Hi Ladies,

Hope all is well with you and the kiddos especially as the weather turns cold!

This has been such a great place to seek advice so I figured I would ask....Gwen is going to be a big sis in May (yay!) And this time around I'm trying to arm myself with more support both during and after birth.

Do any of you have Doulas you would recommend? I would love to get connected!

I'm also toying with the idea of a baby nurse/ post partum doula (having a colicky first child has influenced my curiosity) So any recs in that area would be greatly appreciated too.

Thanks so much!

Congrats Amy! Our doula was Sara Moore, her little company is called Fig Tree Childbirth (you can google that for her website). She lives in the neighborhood and I can't say enough good things about her. She has 10 years of experience, 2 kids of her own and has worked in most hospitals in NYC. She is a wonderful, knowledgeable, calming and supportive presence. We loved her.

Hi Amy,

My doula Annette Perel was with me for both babies. An amazing woman and exactly the right energy through labor and birth. She has also helped me a lot with breastfeeding postpartum. Let me know if you want her contact info and I can email it.

congratulations again! So exciting.

I second Hannah's recommendation. We didn't use Sara Moore for our doula, but we did attend her child birth class, and she was wonderful.

Congrats, Amy!  I LOVE our doula and recommend her whole-heartedly..my sis in law is using her now and so so happy.  Her name is Megan Davidson and she is the head of the Brooklyn Doula Collective...we were so happy with her and can't wait to use her again when the time comes.  Good luck! xo Betsy

Hi Ladies!
Congrats to those who've had or are expecting their second!  Orion is going to be a big brother in March!  I'm not planning to use a doula, but based on my experience w/ O, will likely need some support from a lactation consultant.

Does anyone have any recs?  Ideally someone that accepts United Health and can visit my home.
Thanks,
Johnna
