Some examples of college student projects/works

Board members, I wanted to follow up on the strategic visioning discussions regarding AOK possibilities with college student groups.  Specifically, I wanted to share the examples I mentioned during the Salina meeting.  I created a new folder in the most recent board meeting materials to share this with everyone.  The folder is called University Student Examples.  I like the idea of AOK partnering somehow/someway with university students!  

Students at WSU and at Fort Hays State have impressed me with their abilities and I know it is similar at other KS universities.  There are 3 files in the University Student Examples.  Two files are examples from Fort Hays State University students (primarily work by a FHSU communications student (now graduate) Alicia Feyerhorn.  She prepared an article for the FHSU alumni magazine on the Fish Wizards tour that I help lead in Wabaunsee county and also a video on this.  She did this work for free to my understanding.  It was perhaps a senior project of some sort?  The underwater fish videos are from a FHSU biology graduate student who also has since graduated.  

The other file is a PowerPoint presentation by Wichita State students. I do not teach students at Wichita State but I work closely with them on some projects associated with water utilities. Thanks to grant funding, we expose cohorts of students to careers in the water industry (ranging from traditional conservation organizations to more prominently drinking water and wastewater utility careers).  The students receive a minor stipend ($500) for a semester long experience.  We partner with local water utilities and the water utilities challenge the students to address an issue they are faced with. This particular group was challenged with addressing a drinking water issue in Wichita.  They did a wonderful job interviewing students on campus (it is several slides into the presentation).  They also prepared another video that is mentioned in the presentation, however the 2nd video has a huge file size, so I deleted it for the sake of memory on the Google drive.  I wish the file size was not so large.  

Just wanted to share these examples with everyone to show some of the ability of university students.  I support the idea of AOK partnering with universities somehow/someway.
