Seeking Volunteers for the 2026 Kansas Lek Treks Prairie-Chicken Festival

You are receiving this email as a key Audubon of Kansas (AOK) stakeholder or a past or potential volunteer.

We are formally requesting volunteers for the upcoming  Kansas Lek Treks Prairie-Chicken Festival, taking place April 9–12, 2026, in Hays, Kansas. This event offers attendees the chance to witness the dramatic displays of Greater and Lesser Prairie-Chickens during their peak breeding season and features special field trips and evening activities.

If you are interested in volunteering, complete the Volunteer Sign-Up Form. Specific roles and requirements are outlined in the form. To guarantee a festival t-shirt, please sign up by March 17. You are also welcome to forward this request to others who may be interested in participating.

Note: If you have already been contacted regarding a specific role, please still complete this sign-up form to confirm your dietary restrictions, t-shirt size, and lodging needs.

Confirmed volunteers, or those who submit the sign-up form, will receive additional details leading up to the event. Our festivals are not possible without the support of our dedicated volunteers, and your time and effort are truly appreciated.

I'm sorry but I won't be able to volunteer that weekend. I'm getting married April 4th, and taking a short honeymoon the week afterward! If there's any other way I can help out beforehand (handing out flyers, making stickers, etc.) please let me know!

Saw this on Facebook this morning and had to share.  George LeRoux made the offer to bring his mounted bison to events. So he has loaned it to the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan!  I couldn't figure out how to copy the Facebook post so here is a screen shot.  Way cool!
