Trustees and Staff,
You're invited!
I will be conducting breeding bird surveys at our Kansas Protected Areas next week. These surveys help provide us with a general idea of bird populations at our properties, as well as contribute important data regarding the ranges and frequency of breeding birds in the region.
These surveys are relatively fast-paced, beginning thirty minutes before sunrise (around 5:30am) and lasting until mid-morning (around 10:00am). If you are interested in participating in one of the surveys, I would be happy to have you out. Prior experience, and ability to identify birds of the midwestern United States by sight and sound is helpful, but not required.
This is a chance to experience our Protected Areas off the beaten path. Grass will be tall, wet, and full of ticks. Please prepare accordingly.
Dates are as follows:
1. Mt. Mitchell - Sunday, June 7th
2. Johnson's Pasture - Monday, June 8th
3. Far West Farm - Tuesday, June 9th
4. Achterberg - Wednesday, June 10th
I would like to keep group sizes limited to a couple of participants, so if you have a date/location in mind, please reach out so I may accommodate appropriately. Feel free to contact me directly with any questions.
