I'm loading the UMIK-1 calibration file (in the format of [#######].txt) and the app confirms that it was imported into AudioTool as [#######].cal. However, if I'm doing the same with any other random file (e.g. a JPEG), I get the same message confirming that the file was loaded as a cal file. I would have expected that in this case an error would be returned.

Is there any other way to tell that the calibration file was loaded and is in use? I'm using AudioTool v8.6.5 on a Samsung S25 Ultra with Android 16.

It's a good idea to have a nul cal file to clear out any loaded cal file when not using an external mic.
Follow the manual procedure to create a cal file but leave all the sliders at ZERO.

To check a cal file is loaded, load the nul cal and measure a constant noise source like interstation noise on a radio with the UMIK connected.
Now load the UMIK cal file and the displayed response should change.

I just realized my mistake. I assumed that importing a cal file would automatically apply it. In reality it only adds the file to the list of available files, and at that stage the app does not check the format or extension, it imports any file.

To actually apply the calibration file, I needed to use the Load Cal option. When I do that with the UMIK-1 files it works, or at least no error is returned. When I try files in unsupported formats (e.g. a JPEG) it fails and returns the error “Cannot read from Storage.”

I probably should have RTFM. Sorry for wasting everyone’s time, but hopefully this thread will help other newcomers as well.
