Hi,

I couldn't find this information in the manual, if this app will receive audio via bluetooth or wifi? I'd like to sent audio out of my macOS to a Samsung Tab S8+ to use its screen as a metering software.
- Is this possible?
- Can AudioTool be fullscreen (frequency spectrum only) horizontal? (All pictures I see are vertical).
- Does AudioTool has a Goniometer, which then can be added to frequency spectrum only?
- Can all the buttons from the menu etc. be hidden so I can concentrate on only what happens in the spectrum?

Thank you!
Johannes

PS: Maybe there's a double post as I can't find my last message with same topic in here.

Hi Johannes,

Most of these questions are answered in the user manual:

Just rotate the device and the orientation will change. Buttons can be hidden with a single tap on the screen.

I don't know about sending audio, how that would work ... but it's more of an OS/phone question rather than an AudioTool question.

Due to spam, I had to set the group so that messages don't go through immediately: I have to review them first.

Hi Julian,

apologize for my double posting.

I couldn't find the word goniometer in the manual.
AudioTool has to let me choose the input source where to receive external audio from bluetooth, wifi. There is a free application called AudioRelay which let me send audio from macOS to Android, so the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is playing YouTube from Safari on macOS via loudspeakers. How can I get this stream be analyzed only by AudioTools. Is there a way?

All the best

Goniometers are for measuring angles, correct?

AudioTool uses the Android interface that allows reading a stream of PCM samples from the microphone. You can choose between the Main microphone or the Front microphone. No other audio input sources are available, I'm afraid.

A Goniometer shows you the correlation between two signals by any stereo source or higher. It helps you to make important decisions to always fall back into a working mono format for listening.

Do you maybe have plans to implement an external audio source in the future? For performing/mixing/mastering it is crucial to get the audio in the App without D/A and A/D again. For any other users like FOH thats helpful too, if a measurement microphone is accessible somewhere else but can be used via bluetooth or wifi, or for tuning later on using the output of the mixing console.

Thanks, Johannes.

I do not have any plans for supporting remote audio input at the moment.

It should be easy enough to get analogue audio into your tablet, via bluetooth or wifi, using the  normal TRRS audio socket. I don't think any A-D & D-A conversion errors would significantly affect your measurement accuracy - your biggest problem would be the audio response of the tablet's mic-amp. You can calibrate this as described in the manual, but you probably won't get any useful measurement information below about 100Hz (or even 200Hz, depending on your device).

It might be worth checking for other analyser apps that will take in audio via USB from a soundcard. Alternatively, there are several good, analyser programs (free & paid-for) for PC (& no doubt Mac) that you could use instead of streaming to your tablet.
