v5.8.1 just released contains the requested support for loading Dayton Audio's iMM-6 microphone calibration files.

Please let me know if you experience any problems with this new feature.

Julian,

In reading the directions below to load the calibration file from Dayton Audio, I do not have an AudioTool directory on my Android phone (Droid Razr HD Maxx), I also do not get an option of "Load Cal" in my menu.  I'm running v5.8.1.

I tried creating the directory manually and copying the .cal file, but there is not way to load it.

Directions:
"you will simply need to rename the file so that it has the .cal filetype (e.g. "99-0101.cal") and save it in the AudioTool directory on your Android phone. Then, in AudioTool, select the "Load Cal" option from the Menu, and choose the Dayton file from the list."

Hi Phil,

You will need to "Set 1/3 Octave Calibration" in the Menu (I should have been clearer about that), in order to see the "Load Cal" Menu option.

There must be an AudioTool directory on your device if you have ever saved any type of AudioTool file. First try using the "Store" button to save a spectrum
file while the RTA is running. After storing the file, the AudioTool directory should be created. It will be on the SD card. Put your Dayton .cal file in there,
and then return to AudioTool and use the "Load Cal" option again - the file should appear in the list.

I use the free app called "OI File Manager" to work with Android files and directories.

Hope this helps - let me know if not.

I had a similar issue, you will need to first save something from audiotool to create the directory (I manually added the directory first but it did not read that there was a file). I had to make sure the app was completely stopped before it would allow me to load the calibration. It may take a couple tries but it should show up, may have to try to save a calibration too for it to register.

Not sure if this is the right place for these questions but here goes. If I should ask these questions somewhere else please send me the info.

I purchased and downloaded AudioTools about a week ago and subsequently bought the imm-6 mic. My questions are;

1. How do I update the current app, no auto update setting and no update app buttons as far as I can tell (When I check version it shows only 5.8. with no 1 after
2. The app has option for front mic or main mic. Am I  to assume the main mic is the one I select? Does is auto detect?
3. When manually calibrating mic on ASUS Nexus 7, I can't seem to get rid of the sliders even after saving the calibration. I must be missing something
4. Finally, I bought the app and installed it on my Galaxy Nexus phone and then was ready to purchase another copy for my tablet. On the Play Store it indicated the app was already purchased and it let me download a copy for the second device. I don't use them both at the same time, but I would have happily paid again. Just an FYI :-)

You are the right place :-)

The latest version is v5.8.1 - I'm ashamed to say that I forgot to update the version number you see in the Menu to reflect this - so it still says 5.8! Whenever a new version becomes available, you will see it in the Play store and be able to download it.

2. The app has option for front mic or main mic. Am I  to assume the main mic is the one I select? Does is auto detect?

There is a Menu option to select which Mic you use. See https://sites.google.com/site/bofinit/audiotool#TOC-Microphone-Select for details. The main mic is usually the one at the base of the device. The front mic is usually the one next to the camera, at the back of the device. AudioTool by default uses the main mic, but you can change to the other via the Menu.

3. When manually calibrating mic on ASUS Nexus 7, I can't seem to get rid of the sliders even after saving the calibration. I must be missing something

You must go to the Menu and select "Finish Calibration" to signify that you have finished calibrating. You should also do that *before* saving your calibration, otherwise you will not save what you changed.

The app purchase goes with your Google account, not with the phone ... so you can install AudioTool on as many Android devices as you like, provided they are configured with your Google account.

Hope this helps,

Julian

IMM-6 does not appear to be compatible with the Nexus 7. I have a Nexus 7 also and it does not have a TRRS input which is needed for mic line input.

Thanks Julian,

I was able to get it working with OI File Manager.  I still cannot see the directory when I connect the phone to the laptop but it's there.  It's on the internal storage though, not the SD card.

May have something to do with the Motorola Device Manager.

Thanks,

Phil

Could you help me? I can't seem to figure out how to change the file type from txt to cal. I've renamed it but it just shows as a.CAL.TXT file.

I use an app called "OI File Manager". Highlight the file you want to rename by tapping it, then go to the menu and use the Rename function.

Some other tools are too clever for their own good, and assume you would never want to change the filetype of the file :-)

Hi,

I just purchased and downloaded AudioTool  (Order ID: 1026087880). After a frustrating several hours trying to "load .cal" I realized I have V5.1.

How can I get the latest upgrade?

Thanks, Mack

Hi Mack,

I'm not sure how you managed to get hold of v5.1 as this is a very old version, and not available in the Google Play Store. Please confirm you have v5.1 and not the current version v6.0.1. Where are you finding the version number - you should look in the Menu at "Version Info".

Thanks,
Julian

Hi Mack,

OK now I understand. That site has a very old version they are selling. Frankly, I had forgotten it was even there, as you are the only customer who has ever purchased AudioTool from them, apparently!

Is there any particular reason that you didn't buy it from the Google Play store? I will contact you off-list about this - I'd prefer you to be running the latest and greatest version!

Julian

Hi,
There is reference to a Load Cal option in the menu. However I can find only the load button on my menu even after selecting 1/3 octave.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.  I have managed to place the .cal file in the audiotool folder but unbale to load it.  The only files the load when I press the load button are .at files which I created.
Cheers,
Sid

Hi Sid,

You need to set 1/3 octave calibration method *in the Menu* before you will see the load cal option in the Menu.

Let me know if it still isn't clear.
