Ok, So I've attempted to save my files, I have the AudioTool directory, but when I tap on Load my calibration file .cal file doesn't appear in the list. How do I load this thing? I've got it in the main directory that it created on the phone, but I can't seem to get it to see it inside of AudioTool...
Surely I'm making a simple mistake... what am I missing? Why can't I figure out how to load this cal file?
I'm on Galaxy S4, trying to load the Dayton Cal file..

To load a cal file you need to use the Menu, where there is an option to do so (if you are using 1/3 octave calibration mode).

I finally did figure it out. I had to go into application management and force stop the app and then clear the caches, once I did that I fired the app up and the option to load the cal was magically there all of the sudden.

Which version of AudioTool are you using? The AudioTool directory is automatically created in the latest versions of the program. In earlier versions, you needed to have Stored an RTA/spectrum file for the directory to be created. It should be on your SD card. Let me know if the problem persists!

I'm on Galaxy S4, trying to load the Dayton Cal file, using AudioTool 6.1.0. which was installed from the Google Play Store yesterday (4/15)
Where should I be able to see the AudioTool directory?
When I connect the S4 to my PC (Win8.0) I can see the storage contents and browse through the different folders but I don't see the AudioTool directory. I can also browse the directors on the S4 using ASTRO File Manager
Hold the phone!!! I just found the AudioTool directory under Phone. I had looked here before but I just did not see it. There was nothing in the folder so I placed the 99-4363.CAL file there. I then opened AudioTook, hit the menu and saw an option to load, I click on it and then saw 99-4363 and cancel. I tapped on the 99-4363 and then plugged in my IMM-6 mic.
I assume that I'm now ready to go. Currently I'm just interested in measuring sound levels of my woodworking tools. My neighbor has an iPhone with a different mic and app and has verified the accuracy. Tomorrow I plan to meet with him and compare my phone with his phone.

If you can store and load spectrum files, but cannot load a calibration file, then there may be a problem with the calibration file. Can you send it to me so that I can check it?

Do you see your downloaded file name when you select Load Cal from the Menu?
If so, what happens when you try to use it? What error message is there?

I can't see anything wrong with that cal file. Are you able to Store and Load spectrum files without any problem?

Hello Julian,
I am the product manager for Dayton Audio and we noticed this issue last week with the newest batch of calibration files.
I can tell you that all the older calibration files for the iMM6 do still work, this issue only occurs with the most current batch of calibration files. (for example 99-12564 does still work)
We have gone over the calibration files here at Dayton Audio and can't find any changes to formatting and the calibration procedure has not changed. We can't figure out what the issue is.
If we do find it, I will let you know.

I think that in fact your cal file is oddly formatted. In a text editor it looks like three rows each of many numbers, whereas it should like many rows of two numbers. Try downloading your cal file from Dayton again :-)

It does look the format has changed. It seems that it's missing a line end character after each pair of values. There are line end characters in the file, but only three of them!

Hello Julian,
Quick update. The issue has been resolved.
The issue was definitely in the formatting. The most recent batch of calibration files were uploaded in the UTF-8 text format and they should have been ANSI.
We have corrected the formatting and re-uploaded all of the calibration file that were causing the issues.
If anyone else has any problems, just ask them to try downloading the files again.

Good morning all!!! I'miss having the same issuea. I've downloaded the file several times, force stopped and cleared cache, renamed and even tried file converting software. I keep getting "cannot read from storage". I have tried it on several Samsung tablets and 3 different samsung phones. All give me the same response.

Have you renamed the file to .cal, and have you placed it in the AudioTool directory? Do you see the name of the file when you enter the Load Cal option in the Menu? If you see the file, do you get an error message when you select it?

Hi Julian,
can I email you my cal file as well? my AT app will does not see the file either. I have done everything that everyone else has mentioned above, changed my file to .cal, moved it to the AT folder in my phone, and went to menu in the app and pressed load cal and no luck. Is it because the file is downloading in text? Mine is attached for you.

Thanks ... is the cal file in a subdirectory of AudioTool called "cal" (I can't quite tell from the screenshot)? It should be in the AudioTool directory itself.

When I sent it to the AT file, it's makes me create a new file in the AT file i named it CAL it doesn't give me an option to send it directly in the AT file alone.

Oh wait. I figured out how to send it directly to the AT file. It now shows up in the load cal on the menu screen, but should I see anything happen? I tried clicking on it in the app but can't tell if anything happened....

OK! Looks good. Tap on the filename, then you should see in the Mic display something like "C=99-28590" which shows that it's loaded and the calibration is active. No need to reload it again in the future, unless you manually change the calibration.

Tap on the file in load cal? Maybe it's my phone, but it just exits To the main screen in the app when I tap on the file. Also my next question may be a silly one, but what does the app consider to be the front and main mic? Is the main Mic the internal one in my phone?

If you tap it and return to the main screen, that is fine. That's what should happen.
Front mic is typically next to the camera, and used when making videos with sound. The main mic is typically on the bottom of the phone, and is what is used for phone calls.

I was having the same issue. I had to change the extension. The calibration file's entension is ".txt." It is hidden by default on your computer. Need to make the extension visible. Change the extension to ".cal." If you need to edit the extension file, you might need to change the extension back to .txt and edit it and change it back again so audio tool can recognize it. I hope this was useful. I kept editing the calibration file because the phone was not reading flat. I grabbed a tennis ball, make a small hole, put the mic in and when it is silent, you'll see it is not reading flat.
