I’ve tried Edcor’s smaller 0.5W WSM10K/600 and 2.5W XSM10K/600 as
preamp outputs but they really need to be used in a parallel feed
topology to get bass out of them.

However, Edcor came out with a 5W 5K/600 preamp output transformer,
GXSE5-600-5K for $17.22. It works great series feed. I’m running a
pair at 33ma/150V which is right at their power rating and they sound
great. I’m using the low mu power triode of a 6EM7.

They don’t sound a good as parallel feed Magnaquest B7/5Ks, or
Electra Print series feed preamp outputs, but they pick up much less
hum than Electra Prints.

The varnish on the latest Edcors I’ve received is much thicker and
the quality looks a bit better. I don’t know if the varnish is
something they had to do for the Asian market or they are just doing
things differently.
