You really can't compare reaper and goldwave, since they're two very different programs. Reaper is

But even when you are editing one track of audio, reaper is easier to
manipulate than gold wave on the basic stuff like cutting and pasting,
moving pieces of audio left and right, scrubbing, setting tempo for music
tracks, pitch effects and so on.
Goldwave has it's place, but for me, experienced in both goldwave and
reaper, I find reaper is just more user friendly for everything from editing
a podcast, to mixing and editing 16 tracks of audio.
It's not just a multi-track editor, it's everything.
