Hi Garry
I’m guessing that the person referred to by Petrina is probably Brian Dunbar – who works from the premises of Neil Bates (previous rally car driver) here in the Canberra suburb of Hume. I recall either Bob McHugh or Michael Hanslip (neither of who subscribe to this list, I think) mentioning him to me in the past as a possible Ti bike builder/repairer. Anyhow, you can contact Brian on 6260 1536 after 8pm.
Good luck, Tom

Subject: Re: [audax-oz] Titanium frame repairer
Hello Gary
At the AUSBIKE Expo in 2010 there was an exhibitor from Canberra - who made and repaired titanium bikes.
The quickest way to contact him is to contact AUSBIKE EXPO staff and ask them to track him from their 2010 exhibitors list. I hope my memory has not failed me and he showed in 2009 - but I recall 2010.
In the meantime will hunt my old AUSBIKE Show Guide. Let me know if u find him before me.
regards Petrina
aka AussieButtCream notoriety.

Hi
After completing the BRAG ride 300km brevet last month, I discovered that the creaking noise that accompanied me the whole way was not a bottom bracket problem as I and my riding companions suspected at the time; the noise was a consequence of a crack in the drive side chain stay just behind the chain stay bridge.
My Litespeed came with a ‘limited lifetime warranty’ and notwithstanding statements in the marketing brochure supplied to me by the distributor such as buying a titanium frame was a "bike for life" and that "a Titanium frame has an essentially infinite fatigue life", Litespeed are steadfastly asserting that if it had been a manufacturing defect it would have happened before 7 years of regular riding. How something with an infinite fatigue life can have a crack which is due to wear and tear is beyond me and Litespeed have avoid answering this point by stating that they “are familiar with the marketing materials … and we are not changing our stance”.
Anyway, the purpose of this email (apart from warning prospective purchasers about Litespeed’s interpretation of a limited lifetime warranty) is to ask if anyone can recommend, preferably from first-hand experience, a local (i.e. Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane) frame builder/repairer who is able to repair titanium frames.
