Hi

Just noticed that some of the official Controls' Closing Times (see sheet J2 90hrs category based on 18:00 start) differ from the standard formula of minimum speed of 15km/h <600km then 11.4km/h to 1000km and 13.3km/h to 1200km eg the ones with significant differences are shown below:

Way Out
* Tinteniac 364km: formula = Mond 18:16; Official CT = Mon 18 h 38 *
* Loudeac 449km: formula = Mond 23:56; Official CT = Tue 1 h 08 *
* Carhaix 525km: formula = Tue 05:00; Official CT = Tue 6 h 59 *
* Brest 618km: formula = Tue 11:34; Official CT = Tue 13 h 19 *

Way Back
* Carhaix 703km: formula = Tue 19:00; Official CT = Tue 19 h 51 *
* Tinteniac 867km: formula = Wed 09:21; Official CT = Wed 8 h 47 **
* Fogeres 921km: formula = Wed 14:05; Official CT = Wed 13 h 04 **
* Villaines-la-Juhel 1009kmkm: formula = Wed 21:40; Official CT = Wed 20 h 12 **
* Mortagne-au-Perche 1009kmkm: formula = Thurs 03:45; Official CT = Thur 1 h 56 **
* Dreux 1165kmkm: formula = Thurs 09:22; Official CT = Thur 7 h 12 **

* the Official CT is greater time than the CT derived from the standard formula
** the Official CT is less time than the CT derived from the standard formula

I've checked my formulas many times but will have to go through them again for any errors on my part. Otherwise, it seems that ACP have over-ridden the standard formula (as they're entitled to do) and the scary bit is that the times shorten from Titeniac Control onwards...

NB: for those of you who've asked for/received my Word cue sheets of recent postings, I'll now have to revise them and will send you an update by private email

The ACP has always tweaked control opening and closing times relative
to their published rules. Nothing new, just the French way of doing
things. The French approach is why I don't get hung up on the letter
of the law in Audaxing, preferring to abide by the spirit of the
rules. From vague memory, the 'standard formula' doesn't match the
ACP's published rules for their own brevets anyway.
