hi guys,

Catching up with sending out the notes in regards to my presentation at
the last meeting.

1. Presentation

Abhishek filmed the presentation, assuming the footage was OK I expect
he'll prepare and release it as soon as he has time. :-)

I have attached a PDF of the slides for reference, although they might
only be of limited use without the verbal content.

2. Key Links

OpenLDAP - Server & Utilities, found in almost all Linux distributions:
http://www.openldap.org/

FreeRadius - World's most popular RADIUS server, can use LDAP as a
backend.
http://freeradius.org/

LDAPAuthManager - my open source solution for managing LDAP directories
https://projects.jethrocarr.com/p/oss-ldapauthmanager/

There's a bit of documentation about setting up OpenLDAP with
LDAPAuthManager at
https://projects.jethrocarr.com/p/oss-ldapauthmanager/doc/

FreeIPA - Glen mentioned this during the talk, it's been a while since I
last had a look at it, so worth checking out - it's a packaged solution
for providing numerous authentication management tools.

3. Getting Started

If you want to get started with centralised authentication, the best
thing would be to start with building a working OpenLDAP setup, then
adding SSL/TLS for security and then adding Radius if you need it.

There's a lot of complex systems, but if you break it down into stages
you can test and debug, it gets a lot easier. :-)

regards,
jethro

The video and sound recordings actually turned out ok. I've put all the clips together — despite ~200 kdenlive crashes (thank goodness it auto-recovers sort of smoothly).

The rendered video will be quite large. It will take several more hours running in the background on my machine to make an uploadable file, for which I'll then have to find a reasonable host.

hi Abhishek,

If you want to get the file to me once done, I can happily stick it on
one of my servers for direct download and upload a copy to youtube as
well for convenience access. :-)

I've also got a few recordings from last year somewhere on my site, so I'll add it there.

Many thanks to Abhishek,

I've got a copy of the file and have uploaded it to Youtube for easy
watching, it's quite watchable. :-)

your slides and also a link to the video.
:-)
Sorry for taking so long.

Can I ask if a July meeting has been agreed upon? As by my calcs it
should be tomorrow night.

Mark. (With apologies, usual Monday night conflict applies for tomorrow...)
