hi guys,
Catching up with sending out the notes in regards to my presentation at
the last meeting.
1. Presentation
Abhishek filmed the presentation, assuming the footage was OK I expect
he'll prepare and release it as soon as he has time. :-)
I have attached a PDF of the slides for reference, although they might
only be of limited use without the verbal content.
2. Key Links
OpenLDAP - Server & Utilities, found in almost all Linux distributions:
http://www.openldap.org/
FreeRadius - World's most popular RADIUS server, can use LDAP as a
backend.
http://freeradius.org/
LDAPAuthManager - my open source solution for managing LDAP directories
https://projects.jethrocarr.com/p/oss-ldapauthmanager/
There's a bit of documentation about setting up OpenLDAP with
LDAPAuthManager at
https://projects.jethrocarr.com/p/oss-ldapauthmanager/doc/
FreeIPA - Glen mentioned this during the talk, it's been a while since I
last had a look at it, so worth checking out - it's a packaged solution
for providing numerous authentication management tools.

3. Getting Started
If you want to get started with centralised authentication, the best
thing would be to start with building a working OpenLDAP setup, then
adding SSL/TLS for security and then adding Radius if you need it.
There's a lot of complex systems, but if you break it down into stages
you can test and debug, it gets a lot easier. :-)
regards,
jethro
