Hi all,
Lemming from Hackerspace Brisbane here. I am the current president of HSBNE and as you may or may not know LCA 2011 is approaching very rapidly. At this conference there will be a number of events which will culminate in an open day on the 29th of January. I think this will be a great opportunity for representatives of all the hackerspaces in Australia/New Zealand to meet each other and discuss potential collaborations on future projects, swap ideas, showoff our gadgets and gizmo's and talk about the trials and tribulations we have faced with each hackerspaces startup and how each group has overcome them.

What I would like to get from people is an idea of how many people are coming up, what dates they will be here, and what events at LCA you are planning to attend. I know there is a bunch of guys coming up from Melbourne to run the arduino miniconf which we are planning to assist with. Also there will be a lot of other events going on which are relative to our collective interests. Current intentions are to run an event at HSBNE's space in Fortitude Valley (about 10 minutes drive from LCA), exactly when or what day this even will be held is what I am trying to establish, and the sooner the better as people can then adjust their plans to suit.

The option that is being tossed around at the moment is to hold a BBQ at HSBNE on the evening of the 29th. This is the last day of the conference and is the open day at which HSBNE and hopefully other hackerspaces will have a decent presence. If this suits people I'd be most grateful if I can get some expressions of interest or dates that you are available and we can try and work around those.

The other main reason I am emailing is to ask if people could please send me photo's etc of the startup, notable moments and stories of and about your hackerspace. I am hoping to run a lecture at the open day on the hacker ethic and what hackerspaces in general do. This will serve a dual purpose of educating people who don't know and also drumming up more interest in our respective hackerspaces.

I really look forward to hearing from all of you and look forward to meeting as many of you as possible come January.

Yours Sincerely
         Lawrence "Lemming" Dixon
