Growing Artificial Societies is a seven week
online summer course on the use of NetLogo for
agent-based simulation in social science.
We are scheduled Monday 05/12/14--Thursday 06/26/14.
Class discussion will start on the first day of class.
We will begin by introducing ourselves. (Please use
the Introductions thread.)
This course is asynchronous but participatory.
You should post to our Google Group most weekdays,
but you get to pick your own time of to do so.
Participation is graded.
Active online discussion is very much encouraged.
All discussion takes place in our Google group.
Visit https://blackboard.american.edu for the syllabus.
If you have trouble accessing Blackboard,
contact black...@american.edu right away.
For other questions contact me at ais...@american.edu
or start a thread in this Google Group.
In a seven week summer course, we need to cover twice
as much per week as in a regular semester.
Allocate your time accordingly.
You should be reading every weekday
and contributing substantially to discussions most weekdays.
This course uses NetLogo, which you will need to install.
Download NetLogo from
http://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/download.shtml
If you put in the necessary time,
you should have a lot of fun in this course!
