We had a great turn out for the first build session today!  Thank you to everyone who showed up and helped out!  We finished quite a bit of the framing and some of the drywall for the first 3 hackerspace offices - great progress for the first day of work if you ask me.

A few people are going to meet up at enDesign tomorrow at 10AM to finish up the framing and (hopefully) some of the drywalling.  Also, we are planning on having another build day Saturday January 9th at 10AM to finish up the 3 offices.

Thanks again for all of the help and see you at one of the future builds!

Thanks,
Matt

It was great to meet all of you today... even if only briefly. We had some company pop in from out of town... so that scrambled plans rather quickly.

Anyway... let me check my schedule (I.E. check with the lady of the house) and see if I can make it tomorrow or not. If not... I'll very likely be there on the 9th.

Leslie: When you are ready to get the CNC online let me know and I'll help out as much as I can. I took my 1978 machine and stripped out the ancient electronics for a PC and some Gecko drives... looking at what you have... it should be a fairly quick jump to get the platform running. I can boot my version DeskNC onto a PC for testing and such... then when the Linux gurus have a chance we can set up EMC or EMC2. (I've been wanting to learn that anyway.)

Bryan: Anytime I do head out there it should be no big deal to pick you up... I have a GPS and I'm not afraid to use it. (Grin) I also want to spend some time with you where we can talk in detail about a multitude of things where it is quiet and we can hear ourselves think... should have some incredible potential.

If any of you get near the Kyle area let me know, I'll likely have you come over for a visit and we can chat about some projects and stuff. 512-262-7899 (Home)

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Jerry

It was great meeting you too. Sorry I haven't replied to your emails
yet. Today's my 20th birthday, and I've been scrambling to respond to
all of the emails. Anyway, I'm back in action now. :-)

I didn't make it there yesterday- guess nobody was able to provide a
lift for me. I should have called, but there were other things that
were preoccupying me.

I'd like to help as much as I can too. Les and I hashed out a list of
things that have to be done to get that mechmate operational:

mechmate cnc router:
- gantry is done
- x-rails are bolted to the frame
- the gantry is the y-axis
- the top part is the z-axis
- the warp in the beams has not been taken out yet
next steps:
- take apart the rails on it
- fix the frame
- reassemble
independent things:
- machcam program (les has a licensed copy)
- you can download a free 30-day thing
- read the mechmate.com forums

Me too, let's pick a date. I am available on the 6th (in fact, I'll be
in the Kyle area), and on the 7th I'm going in for surgery, and after
that I will probably be in pain or on a lot of drugs, and then the
following Tuesday (the 12th) I have another engagement, and sometime
in the evening on the 13th there's another event, but other than that
I'm clean.

I'll definitely hit you up on the 6th. Thanks Jerry!

Sunday I was helping to figure out the electronics for the MechMate... fairly simple actually... once the hardware is in place we should be able to get it together pretty quickly.

Anyway... we were talking about electronics in general and it sparked my memory... I am working on an electronics book which I am developing online. If you are interested to see what I have so far please take a look. Much of it is still unfinished, and I am changing the format from an older version... but I think you may still gain some useful information from what is there already.
