I accidentally started hijacking one of Luke's Alfred threads so I'm starting a new one.
This is the thread on ROSAnswers:
And on Homebrew Robotics:
It boils down to rosserial isn't generating the header file I need to use my custom message. I've fallowed the tutorials but I must have missed something, probably some basic Linux thing that I am completely unaware of.
The hbrobotics thread has my CMakeLists.txt, package.xml, and 8Leds.msg files attached. If it's something I missed I need to know so I don't repeat it. Luke's suggestion is to start over with earlier versions of both Linux and ROS. If I can't find an answer otherwise by tonight that's probably what I'm going to do. I just don't want to spend another 2-3 hours reinstalling and configuring just to find out I didn't put a comma someplace or didn't put a line or reference in some vague file nestled deep, deep in Linux that didn't get documented in any tutorial because it's Linux and of course you'd have to put a reference to your dog's tracking chip serial number in the hidden file .wtf_is_this_file_for_anyway...
Do you get my frustration? And yet I keep going down this path because Microsoft's offer is labyrinth of dead ends. At least ROS and Linux have a community to help.
But I digress...
