So...a mere month or two after building the new box, I notice some issues that lead me to believe there might be a problem...so, I start looking around and the first thing that I notice is Weird results from SpeedDisk for all 3 drives

ProbeSCSI: WARNING: hard disk skipped because of invalid returned LogSense data

I look closer at the SMART page & see one of the drives has a red bang over the two following entries, with both having a count of 200
CURRENT PENDING SECTOR COUNT
UNCORRECTABLE SECTOR COUNT
"Fitness" is zero bars

other 2 identical drives show fine with 95 & 98% "Fitness" respectively.

Should I be concerned?

This all started with it taking 15-20 seconds to access a media file on any of the drives if that drive hadn't been accessed for a few minutes.  I'm told this is normal (parking?) of the newer WD drives, something I'll have to find a way around if true...cuz that's unacceptable.

Thoughts?

Yes, that drive is going out. I'm not sure about the fitness thing, never heard of it. I work with harddrives a lot at my job, I've replaced hundreds.

Hmmm...at $89, it's almost as cheap to just buy a new hard drive...even if this one weren't under warranty.

I don't have to worry about data recovery, since the data on these drives is identically backed up on at least 2 locations.
