I want to offer four volunteer opportunities that could make a big improvement to the space:

1. Make a list of the cleaning supplies and consumables needed to clean the bathroom — we will order enough that each bathroom has a complete set. A set of links to Amazon product pages would be most useful.

2. Put up shelves/hooks/etc in each bathroom to make it unavoidably clear where to find the tools and materials.

3. Write the steps a member should follow to clean the bathroom.

4. Put a checklist on the wall showing when the cleaning procedure has been followed in full.

Please reply to all if you would be willing to help on any of the four.

I can create a checklist and make friendly signage.

Could we tile the floor and walls? Maybe use a vacuum like they do at barber shops with a small broom too?

I could potentially get a good deal on tile if that would help.

Thanks for kicking it off Christy and Jeff!  Anyone want to come in on next Tuesday evening and run through Christy’s check list so we can add photos?

Jeff - Can you send amazon links for the products we should get? Off the top of my head we should have
* mop, bucket, broom
* scrubbing bubbles, sponge
* toilet brush and plunger
* Rubber Gloves
* Hand soap, sanitizer, lava soap, paper towels and TP
* Squeegee and windex
* Clorox
We have some of these, but I could really use advice on brands and pro tips. One of many important things boys didn’t think they should learn when I was growing up.

We tore the carpet out of the Elect shop and it was a big improvement but a *ton* of work. This is a smaller area, I’ll let others weigh in on the merits vs tradeoffs. What would make the biggest improvement — tiling walls or floors? Incidentally, we will be getting the carpets professionally cleaned in the next few weeks — got an amazing deal from someone starting a new business. Announcement soon.

Before we start a big project I’d like to pull off the low hanging fruit: ensuring the equipment and materials are stocked, orderly and at hand, and that the process is documented and audited. I have verified in conversations and experience that these active stumbling blocks — however small — are enough to disinvite people from choosing “Clean” over “Die”.  If we show that we *super* care to make it easy for people to clean, I hope and believe their willingness to do so will see a quantum change.

Twist mops are way better than normal ones.  Also added a sink plunger because it makes sense to use the right tool for the job.  Nitrile gloves so everyone can help clean too.  You guys have any ideas for taco bell remedies?

I brought in a sink scrubber and toilet brush today for the shop bathroom next to laser area, along with Comet powder and ammonia windex cleaners

Most of the other listed items were already in that bathroom, though it could use a better mop with tray/bucket. The windex can be repurchased in a gallon refill size at any Lowe’s or elsewhere.

Great. Ordering the things now so that we have spares and have a full toolset in each bathroom. For the sink plunger I think one is enough, with a sign in the other bathroom.
