I have the manual which has the dimensions and illustrates how to lift it:

http://rutherford-robotics.com/DLOAD/Takang_Manual.pdf

Doesn't really specify a weight, but -- very heavy.

I got the following recommendation:

MEI Rigging, Todd Hovis, 210-251-3419

Unloaded and moved in 10 ton FlowJet without a hitch today. Crew was fast and
safe.

But at what cost?

1200lbs.

We are considering the idea of selling it with Ebo's permission. If we
have to move it twice (Rutherford->storage, storage->Wall St) the cost
is pretty high. We don't actually OWN the lathe, Ebo bought it at
auction, brought it up, and fixed it, but left town some time ago with
it on indefinite loan. We put some money down to get tooling for it.

But the thing is, I heard talk that a member had a lathe they want to
bring up, possibly a better one. I am always skeptical of such
opportunities, as whether or not they happen is out of our control.
That is to say, there's a possibility that we'd get rid of the lathe
rather than move it, and then the other member's lathe fails to
materialize. Leaving us latheless, if that's even a word. Or the other
lathe's superior nature is... "exaggerated". I have no info.

We do have ways we COULD move it. I'm just not sure which is the most
cost-effective option. A towing company would load and unload it for
$200, and it sounds like we'd need to do that twice. On the other hand,
I'm not certain you could even sell it on Craigslist within a week,
without giving it away.

Riley here, I went up to SM to help load the lathe when Ebo bought it so I've been through this once...

I have space in my shop in New Braunfels and would be happy to store it until something more permanent is decided.  I have trailers, jacks 'n such that I could move it unassisted, but if the neighbor with a forklift is willing to load in on a trailer that would be great

Let me know if I can help

Consider yourself volunteered then, presuming Ebo doesn't have a problem with it going to your place.

We need to set up a time to do this ASAP.  When do you have available?

The Space no longer has a door system, we'll need to plan around the schedule of one of the people with a physical key.

Thanks,
Danny

I'm swing by during the week anytime except for Wednesday.  I can meet you there to open and to close.
Let me know date and time.

I believe I may know a place nearby to bring it where it can be used until such time as Ebo can get it. I need to verify with the owner... But it would only need be moved once.
