But what does it mean to have a face that looks like it has seen the internet? Are some faces really more modern looking than others (people have said Bella Ramsey, for example, has a face fit for historical films) and what features, if any, contribute to the look?

When you set up a new watch face on your iPhone, it doesn't move to apple watch, but the other features work. On another phone everything works. In the Watch app, I can't even see all the watch faces offered. We tried restarting, pairing again, but nothing helped. Any advice ?

Do you have two watches paired to your iPhone? There are reports of this, and many other problems with watch faces, impacting users who upgraded to AWU2 and AW9- and several of whom now have two watches paired to their iPhones (the new one and the older, say AW6 or AW7).

In addition, there are many who are currently finding that watch faces simply aren't being displayed within "Face Gallery" on their Apple Watch App, or take an inordinate (15+ minutes) amount of time to fully load.

There are clearly problems with Apple's implementation of Watch OS 10, iOS 17, and, quite possibly the integration of the two with those who have two watches paired with their iPhone. It's unfortunate and most disappointing.

Do check if Photo synching is enabled in Settings on the Apple Watch app. If yes, toggle off the switch to disable Photo synching and refresh the Faces Gallery. That solved the problem for me. Good luck ??

it's only added to the watch if one click on the add button in the watch gallery in the watch app on the iphone, and might not work if the watch is a setup for family device rather than one tied to an iphone with the same appleID

I recently simply switched the pairing off, left it for a few minutes then switched it on again and it started working normally again. Unfortunately after a little while it went back to not syncing again. I tried the same message and it refused to work again. I then switched the watch off and then when it came back on again it wouldn't sync until I had switched the pairing off and then on again. Although I am pleased it worked it seems to me that all is still not completely well with bluetooth between ios17 and Watch 10! Maybe when 18 and 11 are launched things will work better but frankly I am not holding my breath. Rather than introducing new features like AI perhaps Apple could get what we have now working properly. Sorry but this has been very frustrating for me!

I want to add a photo to an album where all the photos are of a person's face, but when I click on i, it doesn't show the face icon with a question mark. is there any other way to add a photo to an album with a person's face or somehow make the iPhone recognize the face icon on the photo?

I do not need to tag the faces of people I am meeting frequently. For those I can recognize the face myself, when I am seeing the photo. I need the People album to remember the names of the people I have met only once and will probably never meet again. For many of my ancestors I have just one single photo, also for people I met when travelling. The People album would be much more useful on the mobile devices, if we could manually add the people we want to remember, even if there is only one, but very precious, photo of them.

iPhone should start recognizing their face after you have multiple photos of them in your library. You can also manually select faces on a Mac in the photos app: Find and identify photos of people and pets in Photos on Mac - Apple Support

Leonie- you wrote a post in 2020 offering a script that would, in batch, write the titles of photos (created in Photos/Mac) into the caption field so that the title could be seen on iPhone or iPad. I'm posting the url of that post below. Sorry but this is the only way I could find you and ask you this question although I realize it is not on this topic. So my question is- will that batch phot captioning script still work today in November 2023 with MAC OS Ventura 13.6? I'm not a regular on this forum so not really sure how it works but please try to find a way to contact me... thanks! Photo Titles on iPad (IOS) - Apple Community

As it is now, I have to duplicate the one photo I am having of the person at least five times to get Photos to show a faces icon on an iOS device, if there is no hope of getting more photos of this person, but we want to add them to the People album.

Same issue with my iPhoneX. On the locked screen, it would say Face ID when I try to open it, but it seemed I like it would not even try to scan my face. It would go straight to the enter the passcode screen. The same with my apps, they would go straight to the enter password screen. Within my setting it says, Face ID Issue. I tried resetting my Face ID. When I try to scan in my face again, I get a message saying Face ID Is Not Available. Try again later.

I agree that it sounds strange that a software update would mess up Face ID. It also sounds strange that multiple people over the last 2 weeks (see all the previous postings) happened to have their Face ID stop working right after updating to 16.6.1. Are the two events totally uncorrelated?

I tend to agree, however, doing a quick search, there are at least 12 pages of people complaining on this forum alone (many more other places online)that Face ID suddenly quit working in the last few days. Many of them stating that it happened directly after the software update, which is exactly what happened with me.

Someone suggested going to the factory resent in settings and doing a shut down from there. I've been dealing with this same exact issue for days, and that reset worked! It finally let me set up Face ID again!

Updating iOS on your iPhone should typically not alter the fundamental functionality of the device. It's possible that there were underlying issues before this update, which you might not have been aware of previously or might not have noticed.

In general, iOS updates are designed to enhance the user experience, improve security, and fix bugs, rather than introducing major disruptions to core features. The reported issue of the screen flickering and displaying a white screen after an update is likely caused by factors that are not explicitly mentioned in your post.

iOS updates primarily focus on improving system performance, introducing new features, fixing bugs, and enhancing security. They are designed to preserve your personal data, settings, and information intact.

During an iOS update, your device's operating system is upgraded, but your personal data, such as contacts, photos, messages, and other information, should remain unchanged. However, it's always a good practice to perform a backup of your device before any major update to ensure that your data is safely stored.

It's important to note that while an iOS update itself should not alter personal details, it's possible that certain features or settings may be adjusted or improved with the update. In such cases, you may need to review and adjust specific settings to match your preferences after the update.

Always make sure to read and understand the update details provided by Apple before proceeding with an iOS update, and follow best practices such as backing up your device to minimize any potential risks or complications.

If the issues you mentioned are indeed caused by iOS, it's likely that numerous users who have upgraded to iOS 16.6.1 are experiencing similar problems. However, in order for the community on this forum to provide helpful responses, it would be beneficial for you to specify the nature of the issue you are encountering. Without this information, it may be difficult for others to address your concern effectively.

I was going down through the responders answers and one caught my eye about cleaning his screen well and it worked. (thanks for that response)! So my screen was kind of dirty but more importantly I had cracked my screen protector. I really didn't think this was an issue because my selfie camera and face time was working just fine. I'm definitely no tech guy but decided to remove the protector and just see. All I can say is there must be some other hardware up in that are for facial recognition because once I removed it has worked flawlessly. This all happened around the time of an update so I was miss-diagnosing the real problem. I don't know if this will help someone but I decided to leave a response where I began.

If it was the update, it would have happened to everyone who updated. But it didn't happen to everyone. Certainly didn't happen to me, or my spouse, or anyone in my office, or any of my friends phones. It is odd that it happened to coincide with an update, but to suggest it's due to the update, just doesn't make it so.

Either way, since you've tried all the suggestions in the link and nothing worked, then you'll need to schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options. We're just users here, like you, so we can't fix it for you. You need to take it to Apple for assistance.
