I finally recorded a 720p and it doesn't play well. XvMC is working at
all. Checking the logs, doesn't look like it. I don't know why as I've
set it to be XvMC in the setup according to the atv-bootloader site.

I think I have the underclocking correct as well.. since that was a
sticking point for me a while back.

Any help appreciated!

I should mention that mythfrontend --version does indicate: using_xvmc

well.. I re-installed the nvidia drivers and it worked. So, I don't
know what it was.

So, in the words of Emily Litella
"never mind..."

Brad,

In my attempt to try and get my analog audio working, I followed your
method of installing Hardy first, then installing Mythbuntu. So, my
audio still doesn't work, but, of course, now I have the exact same
problem that you describe here with
"Desired video renderer'xvmc-blit' not available.
codec 'MPEG2' makes 'xv-
blit,xshm,opengl,xlib,' available, using
'xv-blit' instead. "

I tried using synaptic to re-install nvidia-new, but that didn't
help. Could you please describe exactly how you re-installed your
nvidia driver to fix the problem?

I just reinstalled the nvidia-new driver - following Scott's
directions. I don't remember doing anything different, but it was a
while ago and sometimes I just poke around till something works. I
know that's not a very good description ;-)

Did you check the content in /etc/X11/XvMCConfig? Make sure it is
pointing at the right .so file (something like
libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.1 on my system) and that file exists.

Chaogui,

Thanks! That was the solution. I replaced the contents of /etc/X11/
XvMCConfig ("libXvMC.so.1") with "/usr/lib/libXvMCNVIDIA_dynamic.so.
1" (which did exist), and now XvMC works.

Hopefully, others who want to use XvMC will find this step...
