Friends,

Here at Good Work we are offering an extraordinary experience this summer called Sustainable Vocations for young people, ages 15 to 32+, and an opportunity for you and others to contribute financially and with your talents and expertise. Attached are two documents--one providing an overview of the program and the other inviting partnership and contribution of time, talents and treasures.  Please circulate to youth who might be interested in participating, and if you know others who might be willing to donate to the scholarship fund or legacy projects, pass on to them as well. Thank you for your support!

Sustainable Vocations -- North Carolina -- Preparing Young People for Sustainable Living and Green Vocations

With an emphasis on our sacred connection to natural landscape, this hands-on and immersive vocational program is designed to connect young peoples’ passions with the creative skill-sets necessary for truly sustainable, rewarding livelihoods. The program offers young people the opportunity to earn an internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certificate.  The principles of Permaculture provide the backbone for the training course and introduce a holistic pathway for sustainable design and practice.  Participants will leave the program as more innovative, sensitive and cooperative stewards of our shared environments; and as inspired leaders, cultivating a more sustainable culture. They will have an understanding of green economies and how to create opportunities for themselves that leverage their unique talents.

Upcoming Dates: Aug 1-Aug 14, 2010Choose from A la Carte Workshop Options OR Full Two-week Immersion (detailed schedule available soon)

Ages: 15-32(+)

Location: At the Stone House near Mebane, NC (with trips to Burlington, Carrboro & Durham)

Cost:  $100 and up.  Includes tuition, meals & camping nearby.

Scholarships available for low-income youth and families thanks to the generosity of our scholarship fund sponsors. Diverse youth and families are encouraged to inquire. Details at www.goodwork.org/sustainablevocations-nc
