Is this list still active?

Looking back through my old e-mail and February was the last post that I can find.

Hi Christopher,

Well, I'm still here.

I haven't received anything from the Local 689 group lately either.  I've found that there seem to be certain cycles online groups go through.  Some never make it off the ground.  Others have a flurry of activity early on and then fade away.  A few become very popular and are able to sustain a high level of 'traffic'.  The posting on many groups is sporadic -- driven by events.  The Local 689 group seems to fall into the last category.

I doubt the Local 689 group will ever 'fade away', because it has a guaranteed potential user group of thousands of active and retired Metro employees.

My guess would be that one reason there hasn't been much activity recently is that there hasn't been anything to spur people to post.  For example, if Judge Messitte were to come back with an unfavorable ruling regarding the contract between Local 869 and WMATA, I'll bet we'd see a lot more posts here.

Hopefully we'll see a lot more activity in the near future -- and not just reactions to negative (or potentially negative) events, but also an ongoing discussion between the brothers and sisters of Local 689.

Sherman

Hi guys
We miss you too! We haven't been doing the google group because we don't have the membership interest or the manpower go devote to the amount of time it takes to develop the topics of discussion. We are attempting to hire a new person who has the talent it takes to develop the group.  I'm also trying to develop a Facebook page.

A local union takes more than hiring someone, it takes members interest to develop.  Metro has a great communication department but not one will volunteer to help bring the local to the future! You have to have love for the union!
