For what its worth, I am not sure how many 689 folks use Twitter...I know there are many that use Facebook..

But if you don't use Twitter, and even if you do, do a search at times using #wmata

Today's Twitter is especially busy reporting trains with doors that didn't open leading to riders using the emergency door to open. There are many other negative reporting, though there was one positive report of a L2 driver who stopped his bus and got off to help a blind man cross the street. He was greeted with applause when he returned, but you know how Metro management rolls....they might find some kind of violation in that.

Our members should know that everything they do is not only subjected to being reported via use of a cellphone cam, but increasingly its being reported by social media like Twitter, which may have a much larger network than a video uploaded to youtube.

The fifth annual Labor Night at the Nats baseball event is just two weeks away. The event benefits the Community Services Agency’s (CSA) Emergency Assistance Fund, which helps union members who are unemployed and have received shut-off or eviction notices.

A limited number of FREE tickets to this event were distributed at the UNION MEETINGS and through shop stewards. We look forward to cheering on the Washington Nationals as they take on the New York Mets Friday July 29 at 7:05pm at National Park.

Thanks Christopher, that's a good reminder.

We've spent more than our share of time under the microscope recently -- hopefully the public's attention will shift before too long.
