 opening thoughts:
Laura Jedeed: JD Pritzker is one of like five Democrats who knows what time it is and no Newsom is not one of those five. Newsom is attempting to become the Trump of the center-right. Pritzker is ready to go to war
a comment on my Facebook page:
Sooo…. I get that “love thy neighbor” might be a bridge too far these days.
It’s possible that even “like thy neighbor” is too much of a stretch for some.
So, how’s ‘bout we start small?
Let’s start with “don’t judge, insult, deport, or intentionally annoy thy neighbor.” Think we can do that? It would make my day. We’re all just doing our best to get by.
Part one:

Slavery Was Bad and Must Be RememberedPresident Trump declared “The Smithsonian is OUT OF CONTROL,” but what’s awry, writes a constitutional scholar, is forgetting American history.  https://washingtonmonthly.com/2025/08/28/message-to-trump-slavery-was-bad/

part two: Joshua Keating vox.com

Joshua Keating is a senior correspondent at Vox covering foreign policy and world news with a focus on the future of international conflict. He has previously worked as a writer and editor at Slate, Foreign Policy, Grid, and the Messenger.

Donald Trump is a globalist

America isn’t retreating from the world under Trump. It’s doing something stranger. https://www.vox.com/world-politics/459513/trump-globalist-foreign-policy
