It was a good opportunity to clarify a number of things:
We, the Kingdom of Denmark, already stepped up our own contribution in the Arctic by committing billions of USD for ships, drones, fighter jets etc. and we are ready to do more.
And under the 1951 defence agreement the US can always ask to increase its military presence in Greenland. We would be prepared to examine any such request constructively and expeditiously.
Finally, since Greenland is a member of NATO through the Kingdom of Denmark and covered by art. 5, we would like to see a stronger role of NATO.
This is 2026 - you can trade with people, but you don’t trade people.

schools shut out of TX new school voucher program
Nearly all schools accredited by Cognia, the largest private school accreditor in Texas, have been unable to submit applications in the month since the state began accepting them. As of Tuesday, only 30 of the 600 schools accredited solely by the nonprofit were added to the list of approved vendors, most of them offering only pre-K and kindergarten. The majority of those were added overnight on Monday, after Hearst Newspapers began inquiring about the issue. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/texas/article/private-schools-voucher-program-21290944.php
aside: remember the last state to recognize MLK Day was NH...racism has been a significant part of of our political culture...live free white or die *the whole point of vouchers is a return to segregation...but the beauty of vouchers as the proponents see it , is that now we can segregate by color class religion political leanings ...yeah they market it as parental choice but it is the elite's choice of who they want to teach and what they want to teach.
part two:
opening thought: from the son of my first boss art ellison:
Well this would have made my dad proud. So I left a baseball cap at a nearby restuarant and wanted to see if it was in the lost and found.
So while I was waiting, the bartender was comping Aperol spritzes to a group of 4 women. I live about 5 minutes from Gracie Mansion.
I asked if there was a special occasion, and one woman said they were all nurses and had all met with our new mayor to expand union rights for nurses at all the hospitals up here. So the restaurant thanked them with those drinks and they asked if I was a labor activist and I told them that I wasn't really, but my dad was. The first woman said, 'I wish your dad was with us, because we are going to do this.'
