The Navisworks Freedom free download creates compressed, more secure, NWD format files. A practical solution to streaming large CAD models, NWD files require no model preparation, third-party server hosting, setup time, or ongoing costs.

The distributable NWC file exporter lets project teams using Navisworks software generate whole-project models for simulation and analysis. Team members can generate optimized NWC files directly from design applications without needing a licensed seat for Navisworks. The NWC exporter works with a range of products, including AutoCAD and Revit software, as well as 3ds Max, Bentley MicroStation, and Graphisoft ArchiCAD software. The NWC file format supports transfer of both object geometry and associated metadata.

This all started up when I could not see the NWC exporter from the Revit 2012 plugin tool bar... So I thought I'd uninstall the 64 bit exporter plugin and re-install it... I accidentally uninstalled the 2012 64 bit language pack from the control panel... now I'm stuck! I've unistalled manage 2012 and it still shows up as being installed... grrrr.... How can I get the installer to uninstall the 64 bit exporter when it lost track of the language pack??? I just want to do a re-install and I can't.

Hi DavidMettler1819,

Thank you for letting us know it solved the issue. This is a common issue that users run into and the registry keys are unique to the product/version/bit type. Here is a list of the keys for the past three versions. You'll find these keys under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\" key.

Best regards,

Best regards,

Do you have a register key for the Navisworks 2013 64 bit Exporter Plug-ins Englis Language Pack? I had a trial version of 2013 Manage on my laptop, un-installed it when the trial version ran out, and am trying to install just the 2013 Freedom viewer. I get a message on the Freedom Installer that I can't install it until the old version is un-installed. When I try to un-install it Windows says "To uninstall this Language Pack, you must first uninstall Autodesk Navisworks 2013 64 bit Exporter Plug-ins. Please help.

It talks about how the Autodesk-Viewer can see the room as a object only when it converted as a Navisworks file. There seems to be a Revit add in that allows for export of a Navisworks file. I can not seem to find how to add that add in to Revit so that it shows up in the Add-In ribbon.

You can download this exporter here. There are some differences if you translate to Viewer from .rvt (Revit) or from .nwc (Navisworks). I remember doing some testing with levels, and .nwc expose this better than .rvt. You mentioned Rooms, is that what you're looking for?

I have an issue related to the "Add-Ins / External Tools" exporter of revit 2022 to Navisworks 2022 : everything goes well until I add any sort of structural steel connections in my model - then my export fails and invariably ends up in a "log" data refering to Navisworks 2019, as follow :
"Autodesk.Revit.Exceptions.ExternalApplicationException: A managed exception was thrown by Revit or by one of its external applications.
bei Autodesk.Revit.DB.CustomExporter.Export(View view)
bei NavisWorks19.LcIRevitBase.Export3DView(View3D view_3d)
bei NavisWorks19.LcIRevitBase.ExportDocument(String& return_message, ElementSet elements, LcIRevitParameters* params)"

What do I do wrong ? Is there any sort of options I've been missing ? I have Revit 2022, Navisworks Manage 2022 (no BIM360) and my exports are up to date 2022.
I know, I can always export an IFC or so, but any idea related to this case is welcome.

Best regards

Because opening the Revit file from Navisworks doesn't work neither unfortunately. Exporting an IFC file and then opening it in Navisworks does the job, but I still would like to solve this issue with the Structural Steel Connection Components (shear plates and so on).

I've been told by the Autodesk Team that it's a Code issue related to the German Revit version (I live in Hamburg and work with Revit DE) - they're currently dealing with it.
I'll try your solution - which would still cost me too much time unfortunately, in the case of a big industrial project (yet often my category of buidling) but still, if successful, that's a nice one. I'll give some feedback when I'll try it out - meanwhile IFC Export and then NVW works (@rfenyves).

The IFC Exporter will convert all data displayed in the Autodesk Navisworks Scene to IFC and automatically detect Elements from Model Items. No user interaction is required, all data will be available including Buildings, Sites, Storeys, Spaces, Elements, Materials, Textures, and Properties and the Geometry is exactly a much of what you see in Navisworks. This is a freeware solution the IFC files created will not have colors and properties, you can subscribe at CellBIM Store for a registered version that will add all features to the IFC exporter.

I am using it to convert large and complex models on my project and it converts the Navisworks model easily and completely. It includes all the model attribution and properties. It also include the model structure which make it easy to navigate and filter the converted elements. Best Navisworks model converter so far!

Hallo, Thank you for using our IFC Exporter. We have already submitted it to Autodesk Team for approval it will take 4-5 days to approve. If you need it sooner please send an email to the CellBIM support team from the the cellbim contact page at www.cellbim.com and they will send you a link to download.

Works great, only limited by Navisworks processing itself. Has a clean IFC export and its very useful for making references for external files and softwares. For example: exporting IFC for linking in Revit or other softwares as a reference. Also great that the IFC comes with all the properties that were in Navisworks.

ScriptSpot is a diverse online community of artists and developers who come together to find and share scripts that empower their creativity with 3ds Max. Our users come from all parts of the world and work in everything from visual effects to gaming, architecture, students or hobbyists.

I have seen on various forums that a script exists that exports the timeliner simulation from Navisworks, and imports it into 3ds Max so you have the best of both- high quality rendering, and time-realistic animations.

The link below demonstrates what I want to do, but no one has released the script! If anyone has it, knows of it, or can create it (I don't know whether I'm asking a simple task or weeks worth of work), it would be hugely appreciated as this is the missing link at the minute..

I am a BIM manager called Andrew O'Grady in Adelaide, Australia.I made a script (with a programmer) that updates (move and slice) modifier key frames in Max with a CSV file, that you can export from Navis or from any scheduling package.

Hey Andrew! We've been looking for a way to get navisworks timeliners imported in 3dsmax, and you pretty much nailed it. I saw your AU lecture about making an XML exporter for navisworks and an XML importer for max, and I'm wondering now: Are these 2 plugins/scripts available somewhere, or is this property of a company?

Just as many of you, I am also looking for the ability to export the Navisworks sequence. However, I would be interested to export it into a programme called Blender. Some of you might know it. Works the same as 3ds Max, however it is an open source software.
