The power plant facility was located adjacent to the Theed Hangar in the Theed Royal Palace complex,[3] next to the Virdugo Plunge. It generated power for the city and utilized underground conduits to supply plasma energy to the starships of the Hangar, including the Naboo Royal Starship and the N-1 starfighters of the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps.[4] The building was staffed by a small contingent of trained personnel from the Plasma Energy Engineering unit of the Royal Naboo Security Forces[3] and guarded by Security Guards.[2] It could be accessed from the Hangar via a heavy blast door.[4]
To operate and monitor the generator without having to be exposed to the dangerous plasma energies, Energy Engineering staff had access to a remote engineering console and an inspection platform located in the edge of the main extracting shaft next to the access door. The plasma was extracted from the planet core via vacuum suction and forced through twelve acceleration shafts which intensified its energy output, before delivering it to the processing unit. A massive plasma activator stabilized the unrefined plasma, and then injected the final product into twin plasma compressors to be used by the Theed power grid. A series of plasma equilibrium checkpoints ensured the quality of the refined plasma before it was consumed by the grid transformers.[3]
Excess plasma produced from the stabilization process was shunted to a large reserve tank, shielded by multilayered radiation dampers. The entrance to the tank was protected with six laser doors and a large re-circulation lid periodically sweeped oxygen out of it to preserve the fragile vacuum equilibrium inside.[3]
For centuries, the people of Naboo utilized small mines to provide power to their capital. Eventually, however, a vast plasma source was discovered underneath the Cliffs of Theed, leading to the decision to construct a more efficient plasma mining and refinery plant to permanently solve the energy problem.[3]
The complex proved to be a great success, being capable of not only meeting the capital's energy needs but far exceeding them. Excess plasma held in the generator's reserve tank was preserved for emergencies or increased spaceship use, although[3] by around 32 BBY[5] the Naboo had begun selling it in off-world trade deals arranged via the Trade Federation.[3]
During the Battle of Naboo, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi dueled Darth Maul inside the power generator: Qui-Gon was killed, but Obi-Wan defeated Maul by cutting him in half.[2] The Sith Lord fell into a melting pit, but survived and ultimately made his way to Lotho Minor.[6]
The power generator's location is flipped in Star Wars Battlefront II: instead of being accessible on the left side of the hangar (when facing toward the front), the generator is accessible on the right side of the hangar.
Thanks for the interest. I made several of the MOCs above in real bricks (except Tauntaun) and will be posting some work-in-progress pictures of my Echo Base Diorama by next week. I'm also close to finishing the Ion Cannon with good size. I'll be releasing the LDD files in a series starting with the turret.lxf next week. So stay tuned.
This is such a well made set. Too bad that already existing licenses never get accepted on ideas. Such a shame. Would you mind sharing the files of it with me? I would love to build this. It would make an awesome addition to my hoth diorama.
I'm loving everything you've built here, and will definitely be borrowing some ideas for my own rebel base. I'm also working on a shield generator, though I've decided to take a slightly different approach.
Rebel Troop Carriers are quite prevalent in the background of the interior of Echobase, but somehow completely overlooked in official literature. LEGO did a version in its Assault on Hoth set, but here is mine. It should enhance any Echobase diorama. The front end should be improved with the application of four black square stickers cut out from leftover LEGO stickers.
Alternatively, you can follow the elevated path near the purple generator and go around the battle on the highway. You can then cut around to the CP. There is a dip in the wall by the Command Post, which makes an excellent hiding spot to bunker in while capturing the post.
First, spawn as Obi-Wan Kenobi and remove any enemies around the CP you just captured, then move in to the hangar area. After clearing out any droid close enough to interfere with capturing, just stand next to the CP and press the "Force block" button ("F" key on the default PC controls). This will block all enemy fire from the front and sides. Work hard to keep Kenobi alive through this objective; he'll come in handy later.
Welcome to the world of Hero Battles in Battlefront! This is your first fight against another hero, so you might need detailed instructions. The first and most important rule in hero battles is: Know where your target is at all times. Because Grievous' attacks are so much more powerful than those of an ordinary unit (and even compared to other Heroes), you have less room for error.
The second rule: Know your target. Know your character's strengths and weaknesses, and know theirs. Use these facts to your advantage. In this case, you have two distinct advantages: you have a ranged attack (lightsaber throw), and you have the ability to "fly". Grievous has no Force-related abilities, meaning he can't Force jump or throw his lightsabers, so he must get close to you in order to hurt you. Therefore, your safest method of attack is through your secondary attacks.
If Kenobi is killed, respawn as either a Jet Trooper or an Assault Trooper. Unload your EMP launcher or the rocket launcher into Grievous until he's dead. Either unit is useful for the next objective.
The obvious way to get to the Anti-Aircraft guns is from the ground. But in case you haven't noticed, there are tons of droids on the ground, just waiting to kill anything flesh-and-blood. So find the ramps near the west end of the hangar and go up one. Use your blaster pistol to clear out any enemies waiting there, and continue on to the very end of the platform. Now here's the tricky part: you have to jump down onto the beam that is just off the end of the platform. Once you're there, start firing at the AA guns. (Obviously use your most powerful gun.) When they're both destroyed, don't walk forward and fall off the beam to the floor if you can help it - the enemy units are still there.
Alternatively, just fire your EMP/rocket launcher from anywhere you have line of sight, close to the guns or not. If you're close, the guns will go down very quickly; if not, well, as long as no droid gets in the way of your rockets they'll go down quickly too. Also, note that the Republic Gunships you're clearing the way for don't just sit there; they'll fire on the guns on their own, helping you finish them off.
There's a really easy way to do this. Whatever class you're playing (it doesn't matter), get in a tank, either the IFT-X that spawns near the Hangar CP (this is why you had to take out those guns) or an empty AAT, and set your sights on the power generator. Ignore everything else and just focus fire on the generator. You shouldn't have any problems at all with this. Destroy it, and the mission is over... now, prepare yourself for a more difficult one, this time against your former commanders.
