i loved this amp it was my first true good sounding 5ch srs, i loved this amp for the pure fact it ran all of my speakers which i built from scratch my mates who spent like $1000aud for systems where in amazment on how this amp and my 5 home made speakers to suit sounded the only problem i had with it is that after 2-3 years of use 1 day watching a movie the right side and centre droped out never came back :( been looking for another cant find any around so i brought a sony amp just doesnt sound the same

You just CANNOT go wrong with this amp. I bought it at a boxing day sale for 150$ Canadian and I dont regret doing it. The small investment has payed for itself over the years. You might think you need a monolith of a reciever to watch star wars. Well, it sounds absolutely crazy with this amp. The speakers I use are all Sherwood(for that system) as well. and for the little 3 inch woofers, they put out phenominal bass. Its amazing how the small speakers and economy reciever can fill a room with such lively music.

Surround Sound!!! I usr this for Computer audio
to Drive MTX P215H Professional Loud Spkrs.
I alos create Audio cassettes and Private
Home Video ( VHS )sound tracks. It handles
all of my unusal components!!!

My main dislike of this product is the Fm Tuner.
Pain in the neck. I do not have a remote for product
and it would probably make thing easier,
so what have we learned boys and girls?!?!?!?
DO NOT LOSE THE REMOTE CONTROL!!!

The receiver sounds good. Most receivers that cost twice as much as this one do not sound as good. Got it for $146 open-box at Best Buy about 3 years ago. No problems with it at all.

There are very few features and a limited number of inputs and outputs, but anyone who is interested more in sound quality than bells and whistles should give Sherwood a chance. Like many other people, I used to think of Sherwood as a crap brand. Not true at all. Just about every Sherwood receiver that has been reviewed in the U.S. in the past five years has received very good recommendations.

I have used this receiver with some $1,000/pair floorstanding Mirage speakers and a 12" Klipsch powered sub. Surround sound speakers are a cheap Mirage center and 6.5" Polk 2-ways in the surround channels. Source components include an older Philips CD changer, Pioneer laserdisc player, and Sony hi-fi VCR.

When running the Sherwood with the Mirage main speakers and without the Klipsch powered sub, there is still plenty of power to make the speakers play quite loudly while still sounding good. The sound is smooth and detailed but not harsh. The speakers probably deserve some of the credit here, but the receiver does its part well.

I recently used the receiver and speakers (with the Klipsch sub) to provide the tunes during a friend's wedding ceremony. The sound was very good and the Sherwood had no problems pumping a moderately loud sound level throughout the small- to medium-sized church.

Excellent receiver.

While at Circuit (down with divx) City I picked up this little 60 wpc Pro Logic receiver for a hundred bucks and I thought "what the hell, a spare
amp for the kids room or something. Well I needed an excuse, right? I was
surprised at what this little amp has to offer in the way of sound. I had
been using a 8 yr old Luxman R-115 70 wpc receiver that weighs about 30 lbs
or so and has that nice warm effect on one's nerves and the Sherwood sounds
better on my PSB bookshelf 400i's. While it does not aquit itself well on
high-end inefficient 4 ohm speakers like my PSB Stratus Mini's it seems to
be powerful enough for the room it's in and sounds very unstrained and clean.
The tone controls seemed miscalibrated a touch, however and I discovered that
moving both the bass and treble settings to the +1 position seemed to flatten
the response.

I don't like the cheapo spring connectors and the lack of sub and pre-amp outs
but I guess I can't complain. It should be noted that the receiver got a good
review in SR a few years ago (7/95). So did it's larger brother the RV5050R in Home Theater Technology (1/96) but I haven't heard it-yet.

J&R Music World is selling these at clearance prices. I you don't
give a hoot about Dolby Digital yet there are loads of great receiver
buys out there!

Happy Holidays and Happy Bottom Fishing

I have owned this Receiver for about 2 years now and have never had a gripe. For the price this has to be one of the best deals on the market. I have heard Techniques, Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood ETC that cost alot more and have a lot more watts but it is the current the counts and this sherwood can hold is own against most other brands costing way more and with 100-150 watts vs its 60.
As I said earlyer for the money you just cannot beat it.
