Hi all,

I encountered some difficulties in visualizing the simulation results from ATS on a stream-aligned mesh. I would like to thank Pin Shuai for providing the modvis module, which significantly facilitates the visualization of single-element-type meshes and allows for a clear depiction of simulation results across various subsurface layers.

However, for stream-aligned meshes, I have not yet found a suitable method for effective visualization of simulation results across different subsurface layers.  In ParaView, although I can load the simulation results from the .xmf file, I still haven't identified a good way to visualize subsurface results at different depths.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chen,

Saubhagya and I have recently implemented the mixed-element visualization capability in ModVis. Although it is still work in progress, you are welcome to use it and submit any issue ticket through GitHub. There is an example provided in the ATS short course repo: https://github.com/amanzi/ats-short-course/blob/ats-short-course-20250908/05_model_setup/5_coweeta_viz.ipynb

Hi Pin,

Thank you and Saubhagya for your efforts in implementing the mixed-element visualization capability in ModVis. I am excited to try this new feature and appreciate your sharing the example in the ATS short course repository.

Best regards,
Chen
