Dear TC,

The IFES steering committee have recently met and, as requested, I have
sent the attached activity summary.

Following on from the workshop, it would seem that there was
considerable interest in improving the interoperability between software
packages.

I would, again, invite discussion around improving the standard document
- such that the TC can deliver on its promise of interacting with the
community to improve interoperability.

I am going to, in the coming weeks, propose another vote on moving this
standard do community discussion phase. There has been no feedback from
my prior invitation, and on this basis it would suggest that there are
no significant barriers to completing our work -- allowing the community
to comment on our proposed standard.

A community discussion phase does not mean that the standard is complete
- it would merely mean that we will send a mailout inviting community
members to work on the wording of the document.

I would also like to capitalise on the discussion that were raised at
the meeting - there was considerable interest in standardising the
"downstream" analysis. However, it seems unreasonable to do this without
knowledge of our input data.

To work on this further, I propose we hold a meeting before the month is
out.

Kind Regards,

Daniel
