Atomia -> PowerDNS new zone fails

I upgraded PowerDNS and now it won't auto populate new zones.

If I create the zone by hand (by doing DB SQL inserts into PowerDNS), then any subsequent zone record updates work fine.

At a bit of a loss as to why due to lack of understanding how the zone gets from the Atomia app to the PowerDNS DB.

Anyone got any ideas on how to debug?
