The Red-White-Red Card plus entitles you as a third-country national to fixed-term settlement and unlimited labour market access (as a self-employed or an employed person, not limited to a specific employer).

In case of a first-time application for a residence title (e.g. family members), you have to personally file your application before entering Austria with the competent Austrian representation (embassy or consulate) abroad.

If you are allowed to enter Austria under a visa-free regime or if you already hold a valid residence title you may also file the application directly with the competent residence authority in Austria (Provincial Governor /Landeshauptmann/Landeshauptfrau, authorised Regional Administrative Authority/Bezirkshauptmannschaft or Local Administrative Authority/Magistrat).

The authority may also require you to submit other documents on a case by case basis.

For example, many authorities require the submission of an extract from police records (or a certificate of good standing) in case of first time applications. If this is submitted with the application it can help to speed up the application procedure.

The Red-White-Red Card plus is valid for one year. If you have lawfully settled in Austria for at least two years and you fulfil module 1 of the Integration Agreement, you can obtain a Red-White-Red Card plus valid for three years.

For persons, who are a family member of a holder of a Red-White-Red Card and certain Red-White-Red Card plus ( 41a Abs.1 or 7a Settlement and Residence Act) the validity depends on the validity of the permit of the sponsor.

The "red-white-red card plus" entitles third-country nationals (persons who are not EU citizens, other EEA citizens or Swiss nationals) to settle and work (in a self-employed or employed capacity) anywhere in Austria for a limited period of time.

In the case of an application for a change of purpose accompanied by an application for renewal, the application must be submitted in due time before the expiry of the residence permit in Austria, but no earlier than three months before expiry.

The representative authority checks that the application is complete and correct and forwards it to the competent settlement authority in Austria. The latter verifies whether the conditions for issuing the residence permit are met.

If the conditions are met and the settlement authority approves the application, it then notifies the Austrian representative authority abroad and, where appropriate, instructs it to issue a visa. The representative authority informs the applicant accordingly.

The foreign national may then enter Austria with the valid visa or, where there is no visa requirement, without a visa and collect the residence permit in person from the competent settlement authority.

The foreign national must apply for the "red-white-red card plus" in person at the competent establishment authority in Austria. The latter verifies whether the applicant meets the conditions for issuing the residence permit.

For family members of applicants for a "Red-White-Red - Card" or "EU blue card" an application in Austria by the employer of the reuniting person is possible if the applications are filed simultaneously.

For information on the duration of an individual procedure, please contact the competent Austrian settlement authority. The length of the procedure depends in particular on the type of residence permit and on whether the documentation is complete.

Whether or not certified translations from other countries will be recognised depends on the relevant procedural requirements. An Apostille may be required for recognition of the documents, for example.

If an original official document in a foreign language must be submitted jointly with a certified translation, as a general rule the translation may only be carried out by a sworn and legally certified translator. Translators from other EEA Member States may also be registered on the list of sworn and legally certified translators in Austria.

Die 10-stellige Seriennummer befindet sich auf der Rckseite Ihrer Karte beim Magnetstreifen (bitte nicht die letzten 3 dick gedruckten Ziffern mit eingeben)

Die PAN ist nicht gleich die PIN! Die PAN ergibt sich aus den letzten 4 Ziffern rechts auf der Vorderseite der Karte.
