The following channels don't seem to have data produced anymore, and
haven't for the last few weeks:-

Christmas 24

Discovery Knowledge

Sony Entertainment Television

Channels are still not returning data this week.

Is anyone investigating?

Hi Kevin,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this.

Christmas 24: We already have this schedule in Atlas but as Movies 24. As this channel is known as Movies 24 for most of the year, I suggest we rename channel 2197 to Movies 24 in channels.dat. Does that sound ok to you?

We're not receiving schedules for either Sony Entertainment Television or Discovery Knowledge from our upstream provider at the moment; we'll ask them if they can be enabled in our feed.

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks Tom,

The channels.dat file should reflect the actual name of course, but
shouldn't this change when the channel name changes. (For instance
'Christmas' has changed back to Showcase - 2622 ) or are these done
manually?

I'm not sure when data for Discovery Knowledge stopped (I think it was
a while ago) but I know data for Sony Entertainment Television stopped
around the time you took over the RT service.

I take it there isn't aren't any checks in place to see if any of the
channel .dat files are empty or not. Is this something that could be
introduced by you or the data provider?

Also, can you confirm what time the new files are made available each
day?

Many thanks.

Kevin.

Tom,

I've been checking for empty files on the XMLTV service for the last
few years to keep the uk_rt grabber's channel config as up to date as
possible. I've just rechecked for empty listings and have the
following findings:

Empty files (still present) and already flagged/reported to RT in the past:

1221|Bravo +1 (Do Not Use)
122|Bravo (Do Not Use)
148|Discovery Knowledge (Do Not Use)
1662|Sky Real Lives 2 (Do Not Use)
1802|Ideal World (Do Not Use)
1804|TeleG (Do Not Use)
1944|Channel M (Do Not Use)
1956|Teachers' TV (Do Not Use)
1969|Fashion TV (Do Not Use)
2010|Bravo 2 (Do Not Use)
2049|Channel One [Satellite/Cable] (Do Not Use)
2162|Sky Real Lives HD (Do Not Use)
2169|Channel One +1 [Satellite/Cable] (Do Not Use)
2173|Rush HD (Do Not Use)
2249|Rai Uno (Do Not Use)
2250|Health (Do Not Use)
2251|Simply Shopping (Do Not Use)
2252|Music Choice Blues (Do Not Use)
2253|Music Choice Classical (Do Not Use)
2254|Music Choice Country (Do Not Use)
2255|Music Choice Dance (Do Not Use)
2256|Music Choice Easy Listening (Do Not Use)
2257|Music Choice Gold (Do Not Use)
2258|Music Choice Hits (Do Not Use)
2259|Music Choice Jazz (Do Not Use)
2260|Music Choice Love (Do Not Use)
2261|Music Choice Rock (Do Not Use)
2264|Sat 1 (Do Not Use)
2331|GMTV Digital (Do Not Use)
2421|Asia 1 (Do Not Use)
2422|ARY Digital (Do Not Use)
2427|S4C2 (Do Not Use)
246|Screenshop (Do Not Use)
2492|City Channel (Do Not Use)
2553|ABC News Now (Do Not Use)
2572|Rocks & Co 1 (Do Not Use)
2575|Sumo TV (Do Not Use)
2592|MTV Shows (Do Not Use)
2601|Discovery Knowledge +1 (Do Not Use)
2618|Blighty +1 (Do Not Use)
2622|Showcase TV (Do Not Use)
2625|Asianet (Do Not Use)
2636|Multi Channel (Do Not Use)
2637|Music Choice Europe (Do Not Use)
266|Sky Real Lives (Do Not Use)
287|Living +2 (Do Not Use)

Empty files currently "live" in the uk_rt grabber config:

2197|Movies 24
2210|Sky Movies Showcase
2211|Sky Movies Showcase HD
2506|Sky Movies Box Office HD2
2507|Sky Movies Box Office HD1
2531|Channel 'S'
2589|Diva TV +1 (RT)
2590|Movies 24 +
2604|Body in Balance [Sky]
2605|The Active Channel
2613|BBC Sport Interactive: BBC3
2638|Fitness TV
2663|Quest (Freeview) (RT)
2681|STV +1 (RT)
2696|Sony Entertainment Television +1 (RT)
2697|Sony Entertainment Television +1
2697|Sony Entertainment Television
2699|Channel 5 +1 (RT)

As you can see, there are are a *lot* of empty listings generated
daily (the first channels list) that have not been of any use for
months/years (flagged as Do Not Use in the uk_rt channel_ids file).
Should/could these be removed/deactivated from your system?

The second channel list shows channels that have provided listings in
the past, but did not this morning. You mentioned earlier in the
thread your awareness of the SET and DK channels, do you have any
information regarding the others?

Note that the channel names above are those that appear in the uk_rt
grabber config and may not agree 100% with those in the channels.dat
file on the XMLTV service (the IDs will match, however).

Cheers,
Nick

Woah! Hang on there a minute. During December, Movies24 renamed itself
Christmas24 in the Sky EPG and onscreen, but we carried on getting the
listings on Movies24 very happily here and there was nothing to do.
Now, Movies24 is empty and Christmas24 was empty anyway. What's this
about a channel called "Showcase"?

Showcase (SKY 303) gets renamed to 'Christmas' around Christmas time
and then back again afterwards, In the same way Movies 24 becomes
Christmas 24 temporarily.

Any progress on these empty listings?

Well as I said, Movies24 may have been branded 'Christmas 24' onscreen
as such in a pointless marketing exercise, but the listings continued
to be supplied in Movies 24 as normal.

Then after Christmas they were gone.

It's obviously more trouble than it's worth to try and pander to, and
keep up with, these stupid marketing campaigns. The result is that
we've been without Movies 24 listings for almost 2 months now!
