The first and last ATLAS meeting of 2018 will take place tomorrow (Tuesday 6 Feb) at 16:00-17:00 AEDT in the Marsfield basement conference room  and on zoom https://uws.zoom.us/j/2319669070

The speakers will both be talking about their summer vacation project as follows:

1) Zachary Mitchell: using the Hough Transform to detect supernova remnants
2) Brendan Orenstein: IFRS and the highest redshift radio galaxies

———————————————————————————————————
This will also be the first MAERA meeting. What used to be called the ATLAS meetings will now be called the MAERA meetings (pronounced MYRA).

ATLAS as a project is just about complete, and yet many of us enjoy the weekly ATLAS meetings for informal discussion of science in projects such as EMU, ATLAS-SPT, and the ATCA legacy projects, and we would like to continue them

MAERA. In Greek mythology, Maera was a daughter of ATLAS, and is a nymph of Sirius. (see https://www.greekmythology.com/Myths/Figures/Maera/maera.html)

And MAERA = Meetings About Extragalactic Radio Astronomy.

The new MAERA wiki is on http://maera.pbworks.com/

Cheers

Ray
