With reference to the locally loaded .map vector files...

If this data is all vectors.. if the text labels of all these areas
and streets are there in the .map file, then can there be a simple
search function that lists the matches, and on clicking a result the
app takes the user there?

I see that more work on these things seems to have happened in Android
apps.. but it would be great to have the same basic feature here too.

The map file format has been implemented and optimized with purpose the
fast live rendering of vector data.
So unfortunately it's not currently suitable for search (only on top
solutions).

But this is a popular demand and we certainly have it in mind for the
future (I'm one of Mapsforge developers).

The same applies to the graphs for the offline routing of GraphHopper.
They cannot be used for other purposes, like geocoding.

Both Cruiser / Atlas use the same base libraries, Mapsforge for the maps
and GraphHopper for the offline routing.
(As both libraries can be used in Android and Java)

I generally try to put the same features in both Cruiser / Atlas with
exceptions like the platforms features (i.e. mobile sensors).
