With density dependence turned off,  these two parameters (vertNIGHT_XXX and vertDAY_XXX) determine the vertical distribution of individuals across layers of the boxes at each time step.

If the model time step, dt = 24 hours, I am assuming only one of these is applied. Do you know which one? Is it vertNIGHT?

thanks
Andy

G’day

The assumption is that it is always day.

In case anyone is interested, with ttimesteps per day, the model assumes 12 hours each (i.e. 1 day, 1 night) and for any other timestep size assume first 6 hours is night, then 12 hours day and then 6 hours of night. However in all cases it adjusts light per the latitudinal model if the light isn’t fed in as an irradiacne time series.

Cheers

Beth
