We are very pleased to announce the first release of the new version
of dl-fldigi our modified version of the popular soundcard decoding
software fldigi. The is a complete rewrite of dl-fldigi based upon the
latest version of fldigi with many more features. Currently dl-fldigi
works on Mac OS X, Windows XP/Vista/7 and Linux.
Dl-fldigi is a stand alone modification to fldigi, its aim is to be
used to decode balloon telemetry, detect the telemetry string and then
forward it onto a server where the data is processed and plotted on to
a map (http://spacenear.us/tracker).
With this new version of dl-fldigi (r111) we have created a new slim
HAB interface which has additional features purely for balloon
tracking, the normal interface still exists and can be used however it
will lack some of the new additional features. To access this
interface the dl-fldigi binary needs to be run with --hab command
argument, a second icon/shortcut should be installed to allow you to
access this feature easily.
Once you have opened up the new interface you should be able to select
the payload you plan to track in the drop down box on the left, once
this is selected press the "Autoconfigure" button on the right and you
are now ready to track. Remember that it is important that you have
filled in your operator details (Configure -> Waterfall and then
select the Operator tab) and its recommended to put in your latitude
and longitude in decimal form ( - rather than S or W e.g. 52.0100
-0.42323)
New features include the
* slimline UI
* localised parsing of the data and splitting in to the key fields
* checking of the validity of the sentence using the checksum
* SSDV receive mode - new method of transmitting jpegs via RTTY
* redesigned DL Client configuration tab
* can turn on and off dl-fldigi uploading to server for local testing
* using decoded position and operator position calculates distance and bearing
* reports time since last string decoded
* option to export image of waterfall - to allow creation of a
simple web based control interface.
* gmtime() is now used rather than localtime() which allows non-GMT
stations to properly appear on the map
Source, Mac OS X and Windows Binaries can be found here:

be updated very soon.
Please do try this new release and report back how it works - it has
been tested however we need the community to put it through its paces
so comments are very welcome. A complete guide to using dl-fldigi with
screenshots will be put on the wiki soon (well when I get round to it)

Perhaps we should add a feature where you define the various modes and
settings in the xml file for the flight and either have a button which
switches between the 2 setups or it does this automatically (based
upon time or after receiving an RTTY string it'll switch to DominoEx
and vice versa)
