Clearing in – In the commercial basin where the cruise ships dock.  We were able to anchor and dinghy in to customs.  The customs office in Shallow Harbour is closed and there is no plan to reopen – it seems that this office was open only for the Barbados 50 boats.

The Bridgetown Harbour office responds to VHF 12 or Tel 246-434-6102

Shallow Harbour – med style tie up – The dock is concrete and very high.  The office is open from 8:30 till 11:30 tel 246-434-6141.  We are 47 foot and the cost would have been B$100 per night.  There is water and electricity.  Shallow harbour is about 1 km from center of town.

The boat yard is located at the end of Shallow Harbour – has travel lift 50 ton but only 6 foot draft.

Careenage – the inner basin in town – Cost B$25/night for 3 nights min.  The bridge opens only at approximately noon.  To book call 246-426-0093.  The office is open from 12:00-15:00.  TSeal...@barbadosport.com.    The inner basin has a nice dinghy dock which is reputed to be reasonably secure.  Tie up in the inner basin is from a mooring ball back onto the wall – the mooring balls are not set for boats larger than about 45 feet so check it out first.  The water is not the cleanest there and there was also a bit of a back and forth movement of the boats when we were there. Water and electricity

Jordens is the best supermarket which is one block over from the inner basin.

Sail maker – Doyle sail maker and Unbound Sail Repair (Nigel)

The anchorage has good holding either side of a marine park – the park has a wreck and coral for reasonable snorkeling.

Barbados Yacht Club offered free membership for a week to OCC boats and possibly any boat which has arrived from Europe.  The yacht club has showers, a nice beach bar (happy hour) and reasonable internet.

Harbour master Richard Alleye 246-826-9026

Bus – ZR is a van which takes passenger for a very reasonable price – great sun meeting with the locals using the bus.

We would recommend the Oyoisten (not sure of the spelling) Fish Fry as few miles south of Bridgetown for a Friday night “jump-up”  Good food and great fun.

Hope this is helpful and would be happy to answer any additional questions people may have.
