Aug 27, Wednesday, 7:00pm - Dahlonega Sacred Harp singing, We sing at the Vickery House on West Main Street, Dahlonega, GA. The Vickery House does not have a street address, but it is on Google Maps. Since we sing in the evenings, you can park in any UNG spot or right next to the back door of the Vickery House. We start with a brief introduction for newcomers at 6:45. Sept 6, Sat before 1st Sunday, 10:00am - Georgian Harmony Singing, Roberta Civic Center, 93 South Mathews Street, Roberta GA. Directions: From Atlanta, I-75 South to I-475 South. Turn right/west onto Hwy 80W (Eisenhower Parkway) to Roberta. Or, from Macon, take Hwy 80W to Roberta. In Roberta, turn left/south on N. Mathews Street. It becomes S. Mathews Street when you cross over Agency Street. The Civic Center (an old wooden church with good acoustics), is located at 93 South Mathews Street, just south of the old part of the town, next to the recycling center. Sept 6, Saturday, 9:30a-2:00p - Please join us for a special Sacred Harp singing at the fourth annual Kennedy Creek Old-Time Music Festival! This singing will take place in the events pavilion at the Kennedy Creek Resort in Suches, GA. Bring a picnic lunch or plan to eat in the restaurant. The singing will wrap up at 2 pm so that the fiddle contest can start. There is a square dance in the evening at 7 pm. There is no admission fee for the festival. White Memorial Sacred Harp Singing at Hardeman Primitive Baptist Church, 3965 Glenwood Rd., Decatur, GA, just west of the intersection of Glenwood Rd and Columbia Drive in Decatur. Singing from the J.L. White 1911 edition of the Sacred Harp (loaner copies will be available). Dinner on the grounds at noon.
Sept 27th, Mountain Heritage Day, Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC. Starts at 11am and ends at 3pm. We’ll do Sacred Harp at 11 and Christian Harmony at 1:30, each for an hour and a half. We’ll be located in front of the Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center https://maps.app.goo.gl/qTFjosVDLgY6Bfhf6, which is across the creek from our traditional location. We’re near the car show, demonstration areas, and food tents. The crafts are across the creek where the car show used to be.Parking will be toward the South end of campus.
