A few of us were talking about glide performance and speed the other
day during ground school so I dug up my old FileMaker calculator and
revamped it for Excel so you guys could play with it. I don't have
Excel, I just exported it out of my editor as an XLS document so I
have no idea what it'll look like for you all but here it is anyway.
The most interesting calculation is to compare a glider with an 8.5
glide at 23 mph, to a glider with an 8.0 glide at 23 mph in no wind
over a 1 mile distance.......Not as much of an advantage as you'd
think...;)
