Hi all!

I'm about to announce sales for the 2012 Star Party. We're doing things a little differently this year - we're holding it at STATS - a bar/restaurant downtown that has a rooftop area.

I am sending out my normal call - would you be interested in bringing and setting up a telescope for the party? If you're interested, please let me know!

Thanks
Maria

Just a heads up that the American Institute of Metaphysics (which is based here in Atlanta) is once again sponsoring a "Paranormal Expo" here in Atlanta...

Paranormal Expo 2012
Where: Holiday Inn Express at 2920 Clairmont Road in Atlanta
When: Saturday, October 20 - begins at 10 AM
Cost: $25

Bob and Eve and I went to this last year, and it was an interesting way to spend an afternoon.  And at $25 you don't feel like you are funding something terrible, that probably just covers his costs.

But do be warned - some of the presenters were pretty loopy.

Dr. Charles Skillas has some very odd ideas on how the brain works - he's presenting again this year.

Harold Berryman was one of the most hilariously unprepared presenters I have EVER seen at any conference - his slides were all screen shots out of textbooks, he didn't know the material, and he left the room during the middle of his own presentation.  I think I referred to his presentation as a possible war crime on Twitter.  Amazingly, he was asked back to present again.

The Roswell Paranormal folks actually seemed fairly reasonable last year.  This year they are adding some new presenters on Bigfoot and magic, and don't have any psychics doing readings like they had last year.

This is a very small event, it's held in a conference room that seats like maybe 50 people max.

If you do go, do try your best to be civil, polite and non-disruptive.  It's probably not the appropriate venue to challenge their ideas, think of it more as a data gathering mission.
