Job Description
The Data Warehouse Architect's role is to design, maintain, and develop the P-20 Data Collaborative’s data warehouse. The individual will be responsible for effectively starting from scratch to create a new data warehouse which will be composed of data that has been extracted from other state agency databases incrementally and will be merged together into a separate P-20 data warehouse to create a longitudinal database for running reports and analyses. The individual must be experienced in all aspects of database development on the Microsoft SQL Server platform including the ability to design data models, create a database structure, and write stored procedures and other aspects of database development.
 
Responsibilities:
·         Design, develop, and implement database solutions (creating tables, performance tuning, writing stored procedures) in a Microsoft SQL Server environment
·         Design, develop, and implement data warehouse infrastructure including ETL processes, OLAP cubes, etc. with other agency staff
·         Create the data warehouse database and optimize it for growth
·         Perform data quality analyses and develop data cleansing strategies
·         Develop ETL strategies for integrating data from additional sources into the warehouse
·         Develop and evolve the logical and physical database design for our application
·         Create data models and conceptual models
·         Manage multiple database environments (production, QA, and development)
·         Provide technical leadership to the team in all aspects of database design, structure, and usage
·         Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures
 
Qualifications:
·         5+ years experience working in database development - exposure to large, state level data systems and/or education data preferred
·         Database-related software development on a windows platform on the Microsoft SQL Server environment
·         Experience working with database security
·         Solid experience working with developers to create database designs based on their features
·         Hands-on experience with reporting, ETL, BI and dashboard tools
·         Ability to manage tasks and work independently as well as part of a team and provide development estimates
·         Must be an expert in SQL queries, stored procedures, reports, database design, security and performance tuning
·         Must thoroughly document work so other developers can easily understand it
·         Experience designing OLTP and DSS data models with at least 20 tables.
