Does anyone besides Michael know how to install new drupal modules for
the website? I do not (but probably should...)

Joe Reed suggested we add Googleanalytics for general tracking
purposes and I agree!

Thanks,
RC

Hi guys,

I've installed my own module (Bike Commute-A-Thon; more details later) and
plan to document installation procedures on the ABC Wiki
(http://wiki.atlantabike.org/w/index.php?title=Main_Page).

I have on my ToDo List to talk to Michael about his procedures for upgrading
existing modules. I found a problem with one of our modules and the
recommended fix is to upgrade to the latest version.

If we want to load Google Analytics, we can find out what version we want to
load and put it in there.

Jett

Thanks,
RC

I have to admit I'm not sure how Google Analytics is used, but I've
just installed it on ABC's website. Apparently it is now churning
away as people hit our pages.

I've documented a general procedure for installing modules on the Wiki
at this page: http://wiki.atlantabike.org/w/index.php?title=Installing_Drupal_Modules.

Joe, let me know if we need to do anything further to make use of
this. I haven't dug into this very far since I'm spending most of my
time with Bike Commute-A-Thon.

Installing a module: installing a module is as simple as uploading the
module files to the correct directory. The documentation is here:
http://drupal.org/getting-started/install-contrib

Updating a module: is the same as installing, except you delete the
old version first (or move it to somewhere else, just in case you want
it back).

Google Analytics: just takes data about your page visitors, like what
pages they look at, how they found the site, how long they stay, etc.

BTW, Rebecca, you'll need an FTP program to upload/download files from
the website. Here's a how-to guide:
http://www.filetransferplanet.com/ftp-guides-resources/ftp-new-user-guide/
Not sure how well written it is, but there are plenty of other guides
out there.

Also, anyone know why Dreamweaver would have trouble connecting to our
site? Fed it the right sftp credentials, but it wouldn't work.

Hey, I think the module is installed, but do permissions need to be set before it is actively tracking page data? You probably need to sign in to see the link I've included.

Not sure. It should happen automatically, so long as no one has the
"opt-out" permission, I'm guessing.
