Briefly, we discussed the status and future of www.atlantabike.org and
technical/mapping projects related to ABC activities. We hope to use
this google group to continue the conversation and explore/expand ways
to use technology to achieve our mission of making it safer and easier
to bike around Atlanta.

Michael updated the group on the status of the drupal update and
CiviCRM install - we're 95% complete, but continue to experience some
issues with the CiviCRM program in particular (nonoptimized queries,
etc). Michael has served as webmaster both as ABC staff and now
volunteer but is moving on, so we need to develop new volunteers to
help ABC staff troubleshoot as needed, and continue to update and
develop the website. Joe DeRose kindly volunteered to help with this
project, taking on the challenge of learning more about drupal to do
so.
<Bike count data and mapping>
Dave developed and maintains http://trip.atltransit.com, the A-Train
Trip Planner (which has some pretty robust tools for mapping and
planning bike trips). Dave is interested in integrating the bike
count data into a comprehensive bicycle data map for Atlanta (a long
term project), as well as developing an app to help automate data
entry during the bike counts.
Joe Reed volunteered to assist with data standardization (and Lyuba
has been helping me with this as well), so hopefully in the near
future we'll have complete database of bike counts.
There is a separate group that met once in the fall to discuss and
plan for future bike counts and broke into subgroups to look into
updating the tally sheets and surveys, creating a database to handle
the counts, data analysis and mapping, etc. We haven't been very
active over the winter but hope to restart that effort soon.
<Bike-A-Thon and bike routes>
Jett has been working on several projects that he can probably
summarize better than I, but to oversimplify, one is a bike-a-thon
tool we hope to use during Bike Month (May) and another is a tool to
capture people's routes and easily plan Bike Trains. I'll let him
explain better.
That's all I've got for now - others who were there please feel free
to chime in, and those who were not, I'm sorry we missed you and hope
you will share any ideas or tech/mapping related projects on this list
soon.
If anyone else is interested in assisting with further website
development, please let us know.
Finally, I want to thank and acknowledge Jett Marks, who joined ABC's
Advisory Board back in January. Jett is going to be a key person in
moving these many projects and activities forward in the coming year.
Thanks everyone!
Rebecca
