Job Description:
Highly challenging System Engineer/Analysis opportunities
in a Broadband Wireless Data Communication product
realization center. Working with Product Management and
Hardware and Software developers, the System Engineer will
be responsible for defining Specifications for our Access
Point product releases. Technical white papers, 802.11
standards submissions, and RFC proposals will also be
developed. The successful candidates will have the
opportunity to work with a high quality, process oriented,
international development team on a family of 802.11
wireless products that are being marketed throughout the
world. The System Designer activities will be performed at
the Agere Systems (formerly Lucent Technologies) Wireless
Communications and Networking Division located at 260 14th
St. NW, Atlanta, GA.
Qualifications:
Good design knowledge in one or more of the following areas
is required: RC4, AES, PKI, PPP, RADIUS, TCP/IP, IEEE
802.11 or other protocols used in the Internet environment.
General knowledge of routers, authentication systems,
billing systems, network management, and Internet technical
standards is desired. Prior experience in systems
architecture, internal networking component design,
internal component (bridge, router, etc.) specification
development, and data networking is an advantage. Strong
written and verbal communication and teamwork skills are
required. Internal design experience or requirements
writing experience for networking components, for example
bridges, routers, or protocol stacks in PCs or Hosts, is
needed for this position. Candidates who have only System
Design experience in networking components together
(external design/implementation experience) typically are
not good matches for this position.
Desired Experience:
Three or more years of System Design or Software
Development experience (preferably in the Networking area),
and a BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree in preferably in Electrical
Engineering or Computer Science are desired. Internal
design experience or requirements writing experience for
networking components, for example bridges, routers, or
protocol stacks in PCs or Hosts, is needed for this
position.
