COMMENTS: PURPOSE:
The Webmaster is responsible for tools and processes
for Web content and management of the Intranet and
Internet applications. This includes suggesting
technical strategies to create and maintain Web
content and design technologies to improve
productivity. The also includes responsibility for
installation, configuration, and maintenance of
applications and servers related to the Web. This
also includes the planning, design, and
implementation of security measures which safeguard
access to enterprise files and data elements.
FUNCTIONS:
1. Develop tools and procedures for daily
operational
support of the Intranet and Internet.
2. Supports development activities that require need
for the use of the Intranet or Internet.
3. Analyzes internal requirements and recommends
appropriate hardware and software solutions to
optimize work flow and efficiency.
4. Responsible for the creation/modification of
policies, procedures, and standards for implementing
Intranet or Internet applications.
5. Will work with internal department heads to
assure
consistent and timeliness of the Web site.
6. Develop the Corporate Internet/Intranet
architecture and evolve Web templates for
application
development areas to maintain Corporate consistency,
7. Will track performance metrics for all aspects
of
the Intranet and Internet.
8. Educate management staff of current and future
technologies for the Intranet and Internet.
9. Performs daily maintenance of Web content,
insuring there are consistencies between all home
pages and content.
10. Establishes and maintains a positive working
relationship with all enterprise departments to
optimize working relationships and communication.
11. Adheres to all established enterprise, division
and departmental policies, standards and procedure.
12. Provides management with risk assessments on
web-based enterprise security measures.
AUTHORITY:
1. Recommends tools for monitoring security.
2. Oversees the implementation Os security within
Oracle, SQL Server, and Progress.
3. Evaluates and recommends new security measures.
4. Recommends and designs standards for
Internet/Intranet applications.
5. Recommends and prepares PO if contract work is
needed for web-based applications.
REQUIREMENTS-
This position requires a BS or BA degree in Computer
Science, Information Systems, or another related
field, and strong Unix skills, knowledge of
Internet/Intranet standards. Knowledge of
development tools and languages such as CGI, HTML,
Java, ActiveX, LiveWire, Ped. Knowledge of Web
graphic formats and techniques, animation, audio and
video. Familiarity with common Web database
software. Visual Basic and/or C++ experience.
Three
to five years experience supporting business
platforms, systems, databases and networks; complex
system-level troubleshooting experience with Unix
and
Microsoft NT. Knowledgeable of Internet and Intranet
application development and deployment.
