So, if all of these machines were burines all over the world
for the past million years (apparently in very plentiful
numbers), why were they never detected?

If they were buried a million years ago, why did they pick
one of the most populace areas of this continent? Did they
know what it would eventually turn into New Jersey?

Why are the aliens such good shots at shooting the general
public but they are such lousy shots when it comes to
shooting Tom Cruise even though he is often standing next to
someone who is annihilated? Of course the movie would have
been much shorter if he had been killed in the firs half
hour, but that's shouldn't have influenced the aliens aim.

If the aliens are so sophisticated how is it that they
didn't think of the problem of microbes/bacteria/viruses?
You'd think they would have done some research if they have
the ability to construct such machines.

A can of spray paint would have been effective against the
thing slithering through the basement. Apparently there were
all sorts of other things laying around, why not a can of
spray paint? Oh wait, I know - it made the dramatic moment
last longer and allowed the cast to show how much more
clever they were then the alien.

A motor vehicle that has been disabled by an EMP cannot be
fixed by installing a new solenoid. All of the on-board
solid-state systems would have been fried. The only cars
that would run after something like that are the ones from
back before the on-board computer days and also ones that
had traditional distributors and spark plugs. When an EMP
occurs, the effects don't just cover the immediate vicinity,
it extends for miles. Given that there were multiple alien
machines the coverage of the EMP would have been enormous.

The guy with the video camera must have had a very magical
one. It survived after all cars were disabled and cell
phones stopped working.

The alien doesn't seem to have much of a cohesive agenda. On
one hand it zaps people indiscriminately but on the other
hand it needs people so it can suck out their blood to
fertilize all of the alien version of Kudzu.

Was this the best gig that Tim Robbins could get?
