home tonight and remembered that the issue more or less faded from the
headlines with no clear resolution. So, I thought I'd ask if anyone's
heard more than I.
Did anything ever come of the Shirlee Ann Rothermel disappearance?
She, as you may recall, was the girlfriend of news chopper reporter
Bruce Erian. The last story I heard had divers scouring the bottom of
Lake Lanier near the docks. Police said Erian wasn't a suspect, but
also that something had happened between the two of them the night of
her disappearance and that they weren't going to reveal what that was.
Was the lady ever found? Was Erian ever made a suspect, or was any
suspect named? Is the investigation continuing? The newscasts seem
devoid of any mention of the case.

You may have heard this by now, but this afternoon (2/20) the body of
a white female was found in Lake Lanier 200-300 yards from Erian's
houseboat. An autopsy was scheduled for this evening, and is probably
under way as I write.

Last night (2/20), the news reported that the body was the body of Ms.
Rothermel. That's the only update on the case I heard last night (ie. No
new suspects or anything that were reported)

As I'm pretty sure everyone in Atlanta knows, the body pulled
from the lake has been positively identified as Ms. Rothermel. The
autopsy will also try to provide information regarding her death.
